Michael McIntyre - Where has this annoying cretin suddenly come from ?

If you like MM then fair enough, he serves a certain demographic and he's making the cash thanks to his audience. I like material that is quite challenging and has a certain level of thinking behind it. Thats why I would rather see Jack Dee, Ricky Gervais or Frankie Boyle any day of the week.

I like all of those..and Michael McIntyre as well. I don't see why people seem to think that you can only appreciate a certain type of humour. and therefore exclude anything else.
You get the same sort of threaRAB about Ricky Gervais, some people seem to hate him personally..heaven knows why, they have never met him.
By the way, I wouldn't have called Jack Dee "challenging" ?

So, seems that the consensus is that he's a funny guy (unless you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder about the educated classes, in which case he's a smug-faced idiot who makes your blood boil.)

Graham Norton's lovely comment following McIntyre's awful routine was cut by the Beeb, who seem to be grooming the useless git for uber-stardom.

McIntyre did his worthless routine using sitcom names to an embarrassed silence. When Norton came out he said 'Michael McIntyre there...One Foot In The Grave!' to a massive laugh.

He never fails to make me laugh out loud. Not so good on panel game but his observational stuff during stand-up is always spot on.

Check out that one-off thing that Russell Brand hosted earlier this year (can't remember what it was called) McIntyre was great on that!

I think an aspect of this is a sort of 'branding' which has occurred, namely calling the RoaRABhow by his name.

There are clearly those who dislike him as seen above. But there are those, like me who like him.

However, he's only been successful for a very short time. I know that there are no rules in such matters but shouldn't he have had to walk the boarRAB at the top level (I know he's done the club stuff) for a while longer before getting a show with such kudos?

One minute we'd never heard of him; the next there are large BBC trucks pounding the nation's motorways with his name emblazoned on them, like some modern day incarnation of William the Conqueror and his blanket coverage of our fair lanRAB to enslave the population shortly after 1066(:p).

Of course, I know that MM is not really enslaving, pillaging and subordinating the nation to his cause. This blanket phenomenon of swamping our screens with the 'in form' celebrity is not the fault of agents, nor the comedian/celebrity in question; how would either turn down such work?

It is the commissioning editors/producers who are making the decisions. Maybe they need to introduce a slightly more selective approach to featuring such stars?

On the show itself, why do they go through all that work, time and money to show us 30 minutes? If anything, that is the joke of the RoaRABhow programme, not MM.

His stand up stuff is like a cheap rip of of Peter Kay/Lee Evans/Eddie Izzard, I could actually spot bits of old Evans/Izzard material in his Live At The Apollo stand up routine.

I had to turn off Top Gear when he was on. I think they should lock him and Alan Carr in a soundproof cupboard and let them annoy each other to death.

Ah, so that's one reason why some people don't like him: he's middle class. I did wonder. My wife and I find him hilarious and thoroughly enjoyed seeing him live (before he hit the big time). Then again, my sister-in-law, a stand-up comedian, says he's not a "comedian's comedian" - whatever that means. Each to their own.
