Metal & Rock Music Recommendations

I've been into Symphony X for quite a nuraber of years and they are a very good band. Definetely not a waste of money to get Paradise Lost, The Divine Wings of Tragedy and the rest of them are good as well. If you are into progressive metal such as Dream Theater, I recommend Paradise Lost more.

A good place to start would probably be King Crimson`s "In the Court of the Crimson King" A definitive prog album that is quite easy to listen too and absorb.

I'm not really into catchy and upbeat, but I recommend Mother Love Bone. Some of their songs are a bit slower than Boston, but the others make up for that.

Also check out Stone Temple Pilots if you haven't already. (Everyone's heard of them, obviously.) If you don't buy their entire discography, get 'Thank You', a compilation with a great unreleased song -- 'All in the Suit That You Wear'.

I guess Dream Theater could be a symphonic metal band, I prefer their instrumentals, cause their singer is not my favorite.

^ And yeah, I'll think Symphony X is a great mention.

Check out Inhaler or 8 Way Santa by Tad

or

Screming Trees are aren't as heavy but anything early from them like Even If or Sweet Oblivion might be a good bet.

Yess. I'm glad to see people giving Epicus Doomicus Metallicus more credit than Nightfall. While I think Nightfall is classic and all, it doesn't touch EDM. On the note of Solitude, easily my favorite Candlemass song. Also, its amazing to me Candlemass is still releasing great music.

I have tons of epic-Doom suggestions if anyone neeRAB them. Doom Metal/Stoner Metal and Sludge Metal is where most of my knowledge is when it comes to metal. So just let me know.

A lot of Devin Townsend`s stuff is not really traditional metal as such and touches onto prog rock and arabient metal to name just two areas, what type of sound do you like? This may help narrow it down somewhat.

I recommend Drain STH, an all female metal band from Sweden. They only released 2 albums, and appear disbanded. The first, Horror Wrestling, is the better of the two. Lyrics are similar to Alice In Chains. :D Of all the banRAB for a group of beautiful Swedish women to emulate...

Would anyone happen to have any Black Metal suggestions for someone who just recently started listening to a metal less than a year ago? I tried looking myself but couldn't really find anything that I liked besides Melechesh.

Hey im new to the site and was hoping for some recommendations for good banRAB that are extremely heavy. i love growling vocals but nothing like black metal or anything like eyehategod. those vocals annoy me.

some banRAB i currently listen to:
Larab of God
Mastodon
Gojira
Machine head
Death
Pantera
Black Label Society
Slayer
Job For a Cowboy
Just to name a few

If someone could help, I'm looking for worthwhile grindcore/crust similar to:

Blood
Assuck
Repulsion

Please do not give me recommendations if you aren't familiar with at least two of the above.
