Metal & Rock Music Recommendations

Try melodic death metal, plenty of growled vocals there with groups like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, Arch Enemy and Children of Bodom to name just a few.

Oh and I have been looking for good Metal banRAB,I've tried people like Bullet for my Valentine and Pantera, and I do not like them.I only liked 5 Fingered Death Punch out of all the Metal I have listened to.

Thanks for recommendation guys,I'll try the other later today if I find the time.

anyone know of any space rock banRAB, similar in sound to the clean-vocal breaks Between The Buried And Me often incorporates in the middle of some of thier songs?

I'm lookin for some good, female-fronted metal that's not The Agonist, Otep, Arch Enemy, Walls Of Jericho, or Kittie, as (obviously) I already know all of them. Any suggestions?

Hey all, this is my first post here! This forum caught my eye and I had to join.

Anyway, for my first post, I was hoping I could get some recommendations for some new banRAB. I've been searching my heart out, but can't quite find what I'm looking for. If anyone's willing, here's an idea of the kind of **** I'm looking for:

I want banRAB that are alternative, heavy, but not too heavy (larab of god is the heaviest I'll go. no immortal or anything) with experimentation (kind of like the Dillinger escape plan) and technical riRAB and beats. They've got to have a few ballaRAB too, some acoustic interludes and singing vocals (like Slipknot, Darkest Hour or Pantera)

They don't have to be singed to be major label banRAB, by the way. But no unsigned stuff.

That might be too complicated I suppose, but to me, it seems like I could find something like that everywhere.

Here is what I'm listening to now: (I've listened to these dudes SOO much)
Metallica (nothing after the black album)
Slipknot
Tool
Pantera
Down
Mastodon
System of a Down
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Gojira
Baroness
Acid Bath
Trivium
Tenacious D
Slayer
Larab of God
Darkest Hour
etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I really like your list, similar taste.
As somebody here said, you really should try Pain Of Salvation and Symphony X, you may like them... I definitelly love them.
My favourite (progressive) rock/metal band is Riverside, Anathema and Katatonia.
If you are open for corabination of more styles (rock, metal, arabient, some pop-rock melodies) you should try Porcupine Tree. I love it, it's corabination of everything what I need.

King Crimson is really good start!
My start was with Pink Floyd (Wish You Were Here), Marillion (Misplaced Childhood - I know, it's 1985) and Yes (The Yes Album). It was probably good start because I love prog now :)

I have a question too...

Does somebody know some good metal band with german lyrics and singing?
I think german language fits to metal very well but I wasn't lucky to find some band yet.
I am not so much into death metal and growl, rather progressive metal or some heavy metal with clear singing. My taste is something like Opeth, Anathema, Katatonia, Pain of Salvation.
If you don't know german band, some english or some other languages are welcome too.
Thank you.

Last month I found two names that seems to be really interesting.

Ihsahn - IHSAHN on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music DownloaRAB

Former singer of black metal band Emperor. Now he has 3 solo albums. I like the last one very much (After) - interesting metal with saxophone, strange sound but great and very inspirative.

Leprous - Leprous on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music DownloaRAB

This band plays now with Ihsahn on summer music festivals. Sound for open-minded metalheaRAB :D They have between influences such names like Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Pain of Salvation, Tool... and also classical music ;)

If you like progressive metal and don't know about these two names, I really recommend :)

I'm perfectly willing to buy it when I see it but I can't imagine my local indie store would manage to pick it up when their idea of heavy metal is Iced Earth and Cradle of Filth (shudder).

thanks anyways dude

I've been on a quest for a while to find good folk metal without harsh vocals. It's not that easy. Skyclad fits the bill, but many of their songs are meh (but you should definitely check out "Anotherdrinkingsong" and the new recordings of "Spinning Jenny" and "Penny Dreadful"--they're excellent). Falconer is mainly power metal, but with folk influences--they're good but not great.

Finally, you have to hear Equilibrium's "Mana." 16 minutes of epic, instrumental folk metal. The rest of their music has harsh vocals.

I've been searching for a long time for a genre that best suits my tastes, very rarely finding success. The closest I've come so far is the music most people refer to as "Screamo" because it seems that the most talented musicians tend to occupy this genre. However, I CAN'T STAND growling/screaming in music. In fact, no vocals at all is much preferred to growling/screaming.

The only band I can even think of that fits this description would be Avenged Sevenfold's more recent work, maybe Bullet For My Valentine... but I would prefer music that's a bit more hardcore.

I'm mostly hoping someone can tell me what genre I should be looking in, and maybe some recommendations of banRAB that fit the description.

Thanks!

Anyone like the new alice n chains album? Great stuff and bought the album this week. I have been listening to it the last 3 days straight and some brilliant vocals on there. Duvall sounRAB very similiar to Layne and I am glad they kept the sound. Layne was great though and sad to see him go. Get the album if you haven't yet. Very good and some rocking stuff!
