I'm not really sure where else to put this, aside from starting a topic. So in here will do.
I recently started getting more into Silverchair's discography, and I am really quite impressed. Their first album Frogstomp seems to get the most attention for some reason, but Neon Ballroom and Diorama are like, a lot better. Really creative fresh sounding modern rock. Strong lyrics and vocalist, excellent use of an orchestra. Overall stellar instrumentation.
Highly recommend you guys check them out if you like some sleeker and more creative sounding post-grunge.
what would suggest to someone wanting to become more open to Metal?
(the genres i'm most open to is Folk, Modern Rock, Acoustic Pop, Neo, Electronica (mostly Jimmy Taraborello and Ben GibbarRAB))
Hi all, I'm a newbie and i am looking for some cool instrumental prog metal or instrumental shred metal recommendations.
I get right into artists like Animals As Leaders, Liquid Tension Experiment, Buckethead (and all the other guitar virtuosos), so am looking for music along similar lines.
Please, no vocals and stuff with a sense of melody not just avant garde tripped out ****!
my favorite rock and metal music includes:
Guns 'N Roses (both old and new)
Muse
Hendrix
Metallica
Blind Faith
Buckethead
Queen
Sixx A.M
Nirvana
Dream Theater
Ihsahn is an amazing musician. His stuff with Emperor had such a huge influence on some of the more recent symphonic black metal banRAB and he's done a lot of work with the more avant-garde/post-black metal genres.
If you liked his solo albums (I would highly recommend checking out The Adversary and angL) then you would definitely like Peccatum, specifically the album Lost in Reverie. The band features his wife, Ihriel, on vocals so there's this really cool dynamic between the two.
I would say listen to some Nailborab, They're pretty good. They have a nice punk twist to them. The merabers of various other metal banRAB from a couple years back. Also, I would highly recommend Dimmu Borgir and (I know this might sound lame but,) Dethklok, The Cartoon network metal band. It's sad how the guys making it have such talent and that they are a joke. Thunderhorse is probably the song you should listen to first if you can't decide on what to listen to by them first.
I feel like some rock laden with guitar solos. I've just put South Southern Delta by Jimi Hendrix after a good 10 years and I'm digging the shit out the solos (although the drumming is a tad lacking, at least if you've heard The Mars Volta). Same goes for My morning jacket, the Volta etc. Hit me.
