Media Player Discussion Thread

Tried again, even tried reinstalling it and every time i open it it displays the message saying audio library has stopped working and the program closes.

The rest i'd figure out over time but the ipod sync is poor, and that's what put me off. If you were to change file tags they won't change on your ipod when you sync it, you have to do it manually. While with itunes it syncs everything you change.

Wasn't saying that linux makes me cooler. I just have a linux box to run some radio servers. And don't get into a discussion about computers companies ESPECIALLY if you are siding with Microsoft and even worse that you said it after posts about both Linux and Apple. You're again making generalizations and judgements on topics you know little about.

i use windows media player.. but lately i've been listening to my cd player.. just cause i burned off most of the music off of my computer before it gets fixed..

yep...you can even set it to automatically rip them to a certain folder as soon as a cd is loaded! If you have like 10 minutes, download it, give it a try, and if you dont like it, just uninstall. But i really like it, and I think you will too

i found songbird to be entirely too slow and curabersome for my tastes. it's been a good year since i tried it though...

but really, i can't imagine every moving away from foobar. it's so customizable, and i've got it set up just the way i like it. switching to another player at this point would be like trading my ipod in for a walkman :)

yes, with an addon.

iPod manager - musicmusic's foobar2000 stuff

it's actually much more powerful than itunes for syncing. it can read your ipod's library and play music right off of it. it can convert files and erabed artwork as it syncs. you can do full auto sync or full manual. plus you can set it up so that foobar adjusts tags as it syncs. for example, i have it add the date to the front of all album names so that my music gets sorted by date in my ipod.

I have a large collection and I use Winamp. I tried MediaMonkey to see what the fuzz was, but honestly I didn't notice where it did anything better. All I noticed where the things it did less well so I eventually uninstalled it.

I use iTunes, mostly.

It is so easy to create playlists in iTunes. Still haven't figured out how to do that easily in Windows Media Player. Winamp is nice, but it's just too... clunky. Too much stuff showing at the same time, and the visualization display is very buggy acting.

The only reason I began using iTunes was that it was just easier, since I was downloading a TON of stuff from there anyway. I don't like to switch between two programs for the same thing so I just stayed with iTunes.

I still use Windows Media Player, if only to rip cd's and watch videos, but for music, iTunes is the way to go.
