Mamma Mia!

Just seen it. Quite good - perhaps it will get even better with repeat viewings.

Singing wasn't the best (think I'll stay clear of the soundtrack and go for the stage one instead) - perhaps they should have gone for actors that have been known to sing. Then again, acting wise the three fathers were spot on. Heck all the cast were great. (I've not seen the musical btw).

And while I don't think it can top last years Hairspray in my eyes it certainly is up there with it.

Loved the twist with
Harry at the end. Is he gay in the stage show?

And did anyone else find the villagers creepy the way they kept turning around early on? I know they're joining in, but it just gave a creepy vibe..

And on the subject of creepy I could have done with out the innuendo of Christine Barinski "going down" :o:cry:

Anyway, it was still good. Plus some nice "scenery" in places. Greece looks nice too if you catch my drift.... :D

Saw it today for the first time as had been away and wow. I absolutely loved it!

But any film that features Pierce Brosnan in a wet shirt will do it for me :D

But it was such a feel-good movie, and as i didn't know the story anyway it had me gasping dramatically and really not knowing what would happen which i loved.

When do we think DVD release will be?

Ahhh... FINALLY got around to seeing it today.
We went to the 4pm showing, but when my friend bought her ticket.. and me and my other mate got to the till they were like "We've just sold the last one" .. so she got a refund and we had to get tickets to the next show ay 17:10 (LOL by which point the ticket price had went up.. :|) Never mind.

IT WAS BRILLIANT. I've never enjoyed a film at the pictures so much in so long! It was absolutely fantastic.

I think We Will Rock You will be set in a virtual world which would be cool as you could pretty much do anything!
I do love Greece though - it did make me want to go there I will say that!

I saw the movie today, and I must say I thought it was extremely enjoyable! Somebody else said the songs seemed shoehorned into the film and while this is true, I don't think it should be taken as or expected to be anything other than what it is, a feelgood summer movie with great songs in it that you will leave with a smile on your face (even if it's against your better judgement!)

For me, Christine Baranski and Julie Walters were the best thing in it, and along with Meryl Streep they worked wonderfully as a trio. I don't think I've been to see a film in quite a while in which it was so obvious the actors thoroughly enjoyed making it.

Pierce Brosnan wasn't the best singer, but he was better than I'd been led to expect, and I found myself actually quite liking the quality he has to his voice.

It wasn't Shakespeare, but it was a very enjoyable afternoon, and I would find it quite hard to fault. If I had one niggle it would be that the fathers' characters (in particular Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsg

think hsm3 is an american thing at least mm has a lot of british content and is a timeless masterpiece with great music that lingers a lot longer in the mind than hsm3 !!

That's a bit of a daft statement to make without actually seeing the film.
You don't HAVE to get up and dance - a couple of showings I've been to nobody has even sung along! You can go, dig your head in your coat, and still enjoy the film!!

I think proper might not be the right word - The West End show is Mamma Mia if you will and the movie is another version or a 'cover version'.

Mamma Mia has a similar performance in the musical (althoug Donna sings it to Sam, Bill and Harry directly and the company back her up) my advice Elite would be to listen to the West End soundtrack on itunes (other music sites are avaliable) and decide form there the actress playing Donna has changed but the arrangement hasn't.

If you flick back to the early days of this thread, the majority of the people posting were going back time and time again. I saw it five times in total at the cinema. :)
