Lip Service BBC Three

This show is incredible. It's a show about Lesbians. Did people really expect it not to have any sex scenes? Hot lesbians having sex with each other is a big pull. The scene in the morgue was not offensive at all. The beginning scene involving Frankie and the American woman shows that Britain can do shocking, edgy drama like this. I'd hate to see how the show would end up if some of the people here were in charge of it. The show was also put out late at night. It's going to have some very explicit sex scenes when it's being aired at 10:30pm. As for that Sun article, they thought the show started at 11 so they aren't really a great source. It's actually good to see the BBC producing a show as daring as this one.

Not every character on Lip Service "see every woman they meet as potentail(sp?) conquest".

The acting on lots of programmes is poor but people still watch them, are you suggesting that people must be watching them for the sex as well? Is that not a giant assumption on your part? Have you acquired data to show the demographic make-up of the audience which will back up your point that it is mostly men who are watching this show and therefore must be watching it for the sex because the acting is crap?

Looks like only me, you and one other person enjoyed it :D I wonder if the people complaing about it will watch it next week ;) as a lesbian I luved it! finally a show for us gays/bi girls.

Great post - I agree with you. It does not help with perceptions about gay women.

But, the media only wants to show one angle and that is because attractive gay women getting it on sells.:(

I loved the first episode. I've watched other lesbian shows in the past but this is my favourite, so far. It was always going to involve sex scenes being a lesbian drama on at the time it was. I, for one, will be tuning in next week.

When you can spell better I'll take you more seriously.

But for the reasons you listed, that's why straight guys won't be watching it while having a wank.

I love it too! I'm a straight woman, husband, kiRAB blah blah but I find it really entertaining. I love Tess and I keep changing my mind about Frankie-she's a complex character. I don't usually like Laura Fraser (Cat) but I really have warmed to her in this.

The sex scenes don't bother me any more than straight sex scenes do- hee hee I'm easily embarrased by sex on tv! I don't know why, I'm 30 years old for god's sake!!

Watching Lip Service is a pretty unreliable way to have a wank, just when your getting into it they might cut away. Porn is much more reliable.

I was wary about this - I didn't like The L Word but a few years back I liked Sugar Rush. Lip Service seemed like the grown-up version of Sugar Rush, loaRAB of gorgeous actors although I only really like (Roxanne McKee) Lou and Cat, the others I can't say I care much about. I didn't mind the sex scenes but I thought if they were going to be so obvious they could at least only show it for a minute or so?

I actually like it, yes it's glamourised but I'm easily pleased haha. BTW, whats with Roxanne McKees dodgy accent?! Was she trying to be Glaswegian? She sounded more Irish-cum-American...

What do you mean, "as a lesbian, you can tell us..." :D Has it not occurred to you that many of the posters on this thread are also lesbians? :D We all have our own opinions, some lesbiand will like the show and some wont.

Nearly everybody on TV is pretty ;) Especially people on TV shows about life and sex. They ain't gonna have ugly people (of any gender or persuasion) shagging are they.

That's the nature of TV, and to be fair...none of them are absolute and unlikely stunners, they're quite 'normal' looking as far as I'm concerned.

Quite enjoying this series. Tess is definitely my favourite.
One thing that is bugging me though, is Lou supposed to be Scottish, Irish or English? Her accent is all over the place!
