Lip Service BBC Three

I really enjoyed it! I don't feel qualified to critisise the acting but I found it entetaining and that's good enough for me.

Fair one, it had its share of awkward and cliched moments but isn't that par for the course in most first episodes of new shows these days? Intro's/back stories/scene setting. I think it did all three at a decent pace and I'm looking forward to next week!

The plot with Lou and Tess has started to become very interesting. I just hope they stick together and Lou fully comes to terms with her sexuality. I find Frankie to be a great character. Sure she's flawed but that's what makes her interesting to watch.

Um, youporn.com is FREE, men aren't as dumb as you seem to think they are.

As for the sex, frankly I don't really find it that appealing or attractive to be honest. If anything the Frankie (now know to me as Rankie due to her intense mingingness) would put me off sex for a good while.

How would your sister prefer lesbians to be portrayed? Uglier? Celibate? Wearing dungarees? Like Sonia/Naomi?

And yet you insult them anyway by suggesting that the only thing a guy could conceivably be turned on by is hardcore porn. There's more to being turned on than masturbation, or at least I'd like to think there is. Given the choice of something watching something subtly erotic featuring believable characters or watching a close-up positioned squarely between the legs of some bored, sillicon-enhanced porn star, then I know which I'd prefer. The problem with sites like youporn.com is that there's nothing on there that's any good for anything other than masturbation.

And before anyone says that there's nothing that erotic about this show, then I'm not necessarily disagreeing. Only making the point that it's quite possible that a drama that might otherwise seem a bit blah to the average male might seem more appealing if it has the promise of those kind of sex scenes. People don't watch a show like this for one single reason any more than they watch a show like Downton Abbey for one single reason. That's a bit of a reductive way of looking at it. But broadcasters know well enough that if they emphasise certain aspects then it will pay dividenRAB in ratings terms. But that's more of a criticism of the broadcasters than the writers tbh.

Anyway as for the show itself; it's watchable enough. I find my opinion on the characters has changed since the start. I found Frankie really annoying to begin with, but now she seems more vulnerable I've kind of warmed to her. By contrast the Tess character is beginning to annoy me instead - just way too ditzy. And Cat is way too self-absorbed, although I suppose that's the point. But I guess I'll keep watching to find out how the Frankie storyline resolves itself.

You've obviously been looking in the wrong places ^^

They're not all dungaree wearing munters these days yunno ;) No, seriously.

And there are a LOT of gay women who pass as completely straight, which of course means they don't get taken into consideration when people think of 'lesbians'.

Mind you, most straight women are pretty fug, so all's fair eh ;)

That's my biggest complaint about this programme, all the girls are really attractive and in real life, its not the case. One of the main problems with depicting gay women in this way means that is glamourised, which I find there's a lot of these days.

I'm a straight lady, I watched this tonight and I have to say that scene with the 2 girls pretty early on in, made me switch over and the last scene with Frankie and the funeral parlour person was equally stomach churning... Don't think I'll be tuning in next week.

Jesus, if that's what some of us think is explicit!!!

I didn't think there was anything particularly explicit in the episode at all, I was hoping for more next week :D

Why should youporn try to appeal to anything else, they are a porn site. If someone wanted to wank then they certainly wouldn't watch this, its about as sexy as Anne Widdecombe's undies and you have to wait around for ages for any boobs to actually appear. In the days of internet porn do people really have the patience for that. I doubt that men are thinking "oh there might be some hot lesbian action in this slow and dull drama so I'm going to watch" when they could save themselves some time.

I personally watch it so I can go to L Chat and bitch about the following: how the actors look, how unrealistic the sex scenes are, how hot Lou is, is Sadie is a tranny or not, why Frankie is such a Shane clone, why Laura Fraser looks so aged and at least 10/15 years older than Frankie, why hardly any of characters have a Scottish accent and why they seemed to have based Lou on Christine Bleakley when she isn't a bit closet case unlike Lohan who they based Nikki Stevens on the L Word on.

I wonder if any 2 lesbians will order a pizza and have it delivered by a tanned muscle guy..and then they turn straight for a hour or so
I've heard of films like that....;)

I loved the carefull placed sheets in the first minute of ep 2 - hilarious.
then the Bra on Rimming was quite funny too.

Nice to see some total nudity at the end.Heather from Londons Burning has got a cracking figure
I watch it for pure smut factor, but i do think Frankie would be good in a rock band

Not all lesbians are sex hungry, and see every woman they meet as a potentail conquest!!

Lets be honest now, the actuing is poor, the story line is porr, what else is there to watch it for?

That's a sweeping generalisation isn't it, surely you have not met every lesbian on the earth, I'm sure there are some absolute stunners and a lot of very good looking ones.

Same here. I watched it on Sunday morning about 8.30am so it seemed a bit bizarre watching lesbians getting fruity before I'd even gone for the papers! :D

Overall I enjoyed it. Its like a lot of BBC3 programmes - Personal Assistants I think it was called a year or so ago was similar as in female dominated with a couple of fringe men. Just nice pleasant easy viewing.
