Lip Service BBC Three

Is there any "need" for any soap for any particular group of people. Of course not, but tv exists mostly to entertain us and it seems a decent number of people are entertained by watching the lives of various annoying lesbians. I don't think the show is that great but I believe its done well in the ratings for a BBC3 show.

I'm sorry, but this programme is garbage. The sex scenes are gratuitous and trashy, the characters are cliched and uninteresting, and I can't believe some of the brain dead methoRAB the writers are coming up with to move the plot along, i.e. having one of the characters drop their wallet or beat up a chav just so they can set up a reunion between her and her love interest.

I am really enjoying it. Good there is another drama with gay character sin. I never felt when Queer as Folk was on that I had to be represented by any of the people in it.

The Stone Butch lives on.

And I can't help but compare L Word sex scenes with Lip Service so far, would that be because the majority of the LW actors appear to have had some real life experiences. Or do they have a better choreographer on the show? :D

I thought it was OK. Hopefully it will get better over time. But thought Frankie was appalling. Trying to be cool but actually coming over like a sulky 15 year old. I did laugh out loud at the casting director though. Picking up her c.v. and going "Oh it is Tess"

Good, not quite brilliant, but it's still the UK L Word at last. And it's in a fixed time and place, not on at stupid o clock like the original these days

I did think the mugging bit was laughable in the way that she was able to catch up with the teen mugger so easily (while wearing heels!) In reality if that had happened then he'd have been long gone before the thought would even have occurred to her to give chase. People who make a career out of things like that realise the importance of a fast getaway, I'm sure. I don't think you can say that the show was full of moments like that though.

As for the idea of internet porn rendering shows like this redundant for those only interested in being titillated, I'm sure there's some truth in that. But from a straight male perspective there's something to be said for sex scenes that happen between developed characters with believable motivations, which is something you certainly aren't gonna get from most porn (not that I think Lip Service is some kind of masterpiece of characterisation in any other context than by comparison with porn movies...) Also a movie where every single scene is a sex scene - and lasts twenty minutes - gets kind of boring fast :P Anyway I do think there is a market for a slightly more refined tittilation, and I'm sure shows like this do deliberately cash in on that to a degree.

There is noting "refined" about titilation, its wank material for whoever find its titilation, its all the same and this crap is about as titilating as a Anne Widdecombe strip show. Frankie's jack hammer pounding makes me feel sorry for her unforunate victims.

I don't see what there is to be offended by anyway... Frankie is one character, the others leaRAB seem fine and dandy. Not an insult to lesbians at all. Had more or less the same in the L-Word also. I suppose Sugarpink that your lesbian sister was offended by that show too...

Can anyone provide the timings that we need to fast forward to? I am sure a large percentage of the viewers were only after that anyway.
