Leaving ExpressVu or got a Rant then post it here!

I got my third bill from Bell and not a thing changed!!!

They had the nerve to charge me interest for not paying my bill. I told I wouldn't until they credit my account!!! I'm calling them tomorrow.

Starchoice releasing HD/PVR soon...

Then they should offer existing customers the option of signing a two year term if they aren't on a term or completed any existing term, same as cell phones. I remember when I first signed up, it was a fantastic deal, something like $100 dollars off, and $100 in programming credits so I'm not complaining, but most existing customers don't seem to remember getting a deal.

I am sure that if Bell had taken the time to explain it the way you (EVUCSR) has explained it I would have probably stayed, however this was not the case, they decided to treat me badly instead, in the past I have had no problems with the discontinuation of my service for the winter months, in fact after shutdown in September I would be calling in May to have the service reinstated, this has been going on for years.

With regards to their service over the phone I remember calling in on my cell phone to purchase a movie while in a camp ground only to be told that I needed to plug in my home phone and do this myself, I tried to explain that the cord on my phone was only five feet long and I was some 400 KM away from the wall socket, the answer I got I am not going to print since no one would believe it anyway, suffice to say I did not get to see the movie!

I don't know FortmacDude:

I thought I read that the HD-Tivo was very slow, now the 942 I agree it would be a 9200 on steroids (or at least have all it's parts still available to the user).

That being said if you use a PVR once you will never go back to a VCR or heaven forbid nothing.

From Rentals Post -

i Own a 6100 and a 4500.

I just got off the phone with Bell. I asked to rent as an existing customer the new 9220. They said np...but i have the $49 fee (credited) and i MUST have an installer come and unplug my 6100's 3 cables and plug them into the new 9220. for $79.99.

I am an independant electronic tech, i repair PCs, install Sat and Home Theatre eqipment. And yet they still said i have to have some installer come and do this very EASY installation. I would have to take a day off work to wait for this installer to come to my home. Now thats another $100+ i would lose taking the day off.

So to "rent" this new 9220 i now have to pay out $230+.......

Existing "Valued" customer??? Bullshit!!

I have cancelled my 2 bell recievers/account and am going over to StarChoice.

Kiss my long term (8 years- never pirated) valued customer ass bell.

After posting previous message had to call Expressvu billing to get a refund on the apparent money I owed them. This money was all due to getting a month free of movie central(which I cancelled after the month). First, on my last bill I was charged for partial month which was billed for more than what one month is worth, have been credited that on this bill, was also told not to pay it. Then they charged me for a month of movie centralm from July 22-Aug21, best part was that the channels were cancelled as of July 3. CSR didn't understand why they did this. I know why, they are all a bunch of idiots!!!! Anyways, don't know what happened with the extra money paid, will be watching my bill closely to make sure I get it back, but I did receive a month of free programming.

After that, I called the install department and according to them everything was still a go for this afternoon and the installer should be bringing a dish with him. Go figure, you talk to 3 different people and they all give you a different answer.

Then at about 1:30 local time I get a call from Bell saying "The installer has to drive a long way to get there and the install will now be tomorrow afternoon." I'm sure he has to drive a long way. Probably coming out of Regina which is only 30 min. from Moose Jaw. I drove here from Saskatoon which is over 2 hours to be here for today and know it won't get done. Anyways because of this they offered me a month free of programming. So now I should be receiving 2 months of free programming. Have to wait and see on that one. Also, install tomorrow, I'll believe it when he shows up.

Not too impressed with Expressvu today. If I get the same answers tomorrow, a free month of programming will not do. They will have to offer free NFL Sunday Ticket or free NHL Centre Ice.

Finally I got the transponder problem fixed. After playing with the dish alignment and replacint the cable, everything is working fine. No thanks to ExpressVu since they did not do a single thing in helping to correct the problem. The suggestions from people here have been a lot more useful, so thank you very much for your input. Hopefully now I can sit back and enjoy some programming for a while before the next problem starts (better yet, I hope that is it for the problems).

Hugh,

That may be the case with me as well. I have awhile to go on my contract but I am debating to cancel everything phone, internet, EVU anyways.

If I do wait till the end............it will take a lot for me to stay. I have been happy with my sympatico but because of EVU I now want to cancel everything.

It is not just 1 thing, or 2 or 3 or 10. It is all the time. The only positive thing I can say is that digital bundle phone number they added. I have called it twice and got through to someone immedietely and they were what a CSR should be. Unfortenetely both times I had to be transferred to EVU and had to wait usual long times.

I've been a PVR user for 3 weeks now.

My biggest shock and disappointment with the 9200 is that it lacks the essential and very basic functionality of recording shows by name. I'm still pretty damn ticked off that I paid $600 for the thing, and it can't do something as simple as that. I wouldn't be any more likely to ask if a $600 PVR can do such a thing than I would ask if it can keep track of time.

That said... in my job, I have shifts all over the place (morning, afternoon, and night). Thanks to having a PVR, 90% of my TV watching is pre-recorded, and I can watch TV whenever the heck I feel like it or have the time. Without a PVR, I would miss a great number of TV shows, and would be more limited regarding when I can watch them.

I think if I could do it over, I'd rather have bought the single-tuner PVR for 50% of the cost, but oh well. At least I'm HD-ready whenever my wallet is, and I can watch shows in both my living room and bedroom, at the same time if I choose. It would definitely be hard to go back and watch TV without a PVR.

Might as well invest in a good set of rabbit ears then.
Everyone is going to raise their rates at some point.

SC will suspend your account for a minimum of 1 week for free once a year.
When I had SC I put my account on vacation for 2 weeks every summer and my bill was correct every time. Now with BEV I have had to call to correct their stupid mistakes every time I change programming. It's getting to be quite annoying. Not once have they been able to bill me correctly for services rendered.

I just found out the trick to getting a CSR who actually speaks english and not some slaughtered version of english with a swahili accent...... press #2 for french :)

From the first post in this thread by the site owner:

So why are there so many posts by EVU related workers in this thread?

Let us rant in peace.

sometimes people come into the store looking to rent two receivers for their home...i don't think rental is worth it, unless you are looking at going with 3 or 4 receivers...with all the credits that are on right now, you might as well buy everything...at least that way you own it.

as for renting another receiver, why not just buy one, they are only $99.

I actually agree with Bell on this policy. Because it's a rental, they continue to own the equipment. The fact that they insist on a professional installer makes a lot of sense. Any yahoo trying to avoid the installation fee (and I'm not suggesting you are a yahoo, Elvisator) can call up and claim to have all kinds of experience hooking up satellites.

If you want to hook it up yourself, buy the gear, don't rent.

If it were my business, I would have the same policy.

I decided to buy the 9220 a few weeks ago and I should have bought it in September. Most people on this board said to wait till October as there will be a great new promotion. Even Bell world hinted at it. Well October came around and they deal is only if you rent. I prefer to buy everything. I know I could have $240 off over 2 years but if I keep it for 3, its all a wash. If I wanted centre ice, the half price deal was only for rentals. In September, I could have had $100 off plus 6 months free HD. So don't beleive everything you read on here.

Now on to my Bell/installer beef.
They said they would be here today between 12 and 6. I had to work till noon and was home at 12:15 but left a note on the door. I doubt they would have been here at 12 anyway. So a beautiful day outside and here I am, waiting for 6 hours for NO one to show up. I called the installer but no answer there.

Hold on..wouldnt you know it..its 6:50 and i am ready to go out and they show up. He did a fast job but I found it funny they wont climb roofs or not go in my 4 foot crawl space. They place dish right at edge of roof so they dont have to walk on it. Said its an insurance thing.

Then the fun part came, calling bell to activate. I did not mind waiting 10 min on hold. The CSR who answered was very pleasant. Then she did a mena thing to me and passed me on to an activation person, who was, no offense...a fricken Indian or Paki who could barely talk english and I had to repeat everything 5 times. It was unreal!! I would be amazed if my dish actually is activated in 15 min because I would be amazed if he got all my info correctly. I was literally been a dick and yelling at the guy. A five minute job of transferring some info took about 20 min.
I read all the horror stories on here about Bell csr and I guess I found out on day 1.

just fire an email off to the address i posted above.

no need to get bent out of shape about it...there are more important things in life to worry about...the executive office will fix it for you.
