Leaving ExpressVu or got a Rant then post it here!

it is easier to get help in here, as it is more likely that your problem has been experienced by someone else here...trying to troubleshoot over the phone is VERY difficult...i am usually pretty good with computers, but if my mom calls me about a problem with her computer, it takes forever to try and fix it...i know if i were there, i could fix it in a minute...i would use tech support as a last resort as places like this offer some great help and you can get your answers reasonably quickly as well.

Well in started in March......$3 added to bill. I called and they said it was there mistake and it will be corrected next bill.

In April I had a $3 charge again! On top of that they charged me for a PPV movie which was supposed to be free. So I called them again. After wasting an hour......"It will be corrected next bill sir. You will be credited for both $3 charges and the $9.99 PPV movie"

May bill comes in. It now credits $3 under a "price guarentee adjustment". Where's my $(3*2+9.99)1.15?

I am getting really pissed off. I am wasting my time again and again. How friggin hard is it to make a credit adjustment?@!

I am now getting very close to saying.......fine.....you guys keep the $18.39 and I am cancelling my Sympatico and phone bill and changing my EVU from $90 to the basic $25. I will go to someone who cares.

Don't bother saying email the exec email at bell because I emailed twice with absolutely no response.

Anybody has any suggestions because I am getting tired of this $hit.

Marko, I suggest you read here: http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21217

Don't read the complaint thread and decide you don't want Bell. That would be foolish; as there won't be any positive in the thread.

Have I had some run ins with Bell? Yes. Do I find Shaw's customer service better? Yes. (I have internet through them.) But would I switch from Bell to Shaw? No way. Not even if I could get Shaw for 1/2 price.

last tuesday i order a 9200 reciever over the phone from express-vu .filled out the check the way the guy told me to and send it to a post box in north york like they said to do.to-day get a call from bell world that they have a reciever and went there and we called to cancell the other reciever from express-vu. was told that since it was not a certified check that they could not cash it that they would send back the check.when i went to use my bank card it said not enough funds. went to the bank to see what the problem was and it turned out that they cashed the check and put the money in my account minus the next bill.we went throw 8 different people at express -vu before i could get a straight answer.the thing is why would somebody give them $688.85 for a bill of $105.00.i want to know why they would absume that .also what happened to my order in the first place. they seem to not have any knollege of it.they said that they will phone me back but i think there trying to give me the run a round.they better not just offer me a couple of pay to view credits for there blunnder as i all ready have $79 worth of credits now.i think they should swallow the $105 on the price of the reciever that they used on my account and give me the dam reciever.

Last week I decided I was going to get rid of my cable, and after having good sympatico internet for a few months, was ready to give Bell lots of my business. I was going to bundle, Internet, Cell Phone, Expressvu. VIOP when it comes. So a week ago I order it all up, week goes by yet to recieve anything so for a giggle I call in to see what is going on. Noone seems to know anything about my order and after 3 hours on the phone, the figure out what the problem was and the order was actually put in this time. Date for install would be May 2. So on about April 29th I call just to double check everything is fine after the first time, and the guy says its all ordered, but the date for install has been pushed back to the Friday since someone forgot to click that I needed the multiswitch. Fine, I can live with it, I am pissed yes, but things happen. Then the next day someone from the install dept calls here and says there is an opening again on Monday if I am interested. Sounds good, so I agree. So today comes, which I turned down working overtime at double time which is 54$ an hour, cause hey, an they are coming to put my dish in today. So I sit, and I wait. 8am-12pm.. Was the time frame. 3PM comes around and I finally call, to hear, oh we could not get anyone out today. So we need to rebook to May the 12th.. May the f'ing 12th? I turn down lots of money, noone calls me to tell me this, and now they would like me to wait 10 more days while I already cancelled my cable? Manager is calling me back tomorrow, and if they cannot get someone here that day to get this in, there goes alot of business for Bell.

The subs that are ticked off without having the rental option, are for the most part, not those that want to rent a 3100. They are the ones that want the same rental options as the new subs get for the pvrs, and the HDTV receivers, including the new 9200. For the most part I agree with them. Why should a brand new sub that might cancel in 24 months, get a better deal then one that has been with BEV for 7 years. There should be a balance. You can work for a company and not agree with all of it's policies ;)

PeAcE

Well lets see is there anything I could really rant about with BEV

1) Simsubbing HD channels with Toronto channels that we could care less about east/west of Toronto, especially with the subbing happening with networks that don't supply OTA HD anywhere but T.O. and Vancouver later.

2) No firmware upgrades for the 6100 HD receiver that fixes DD audio receivers even though Dish Network has posted a few of them since the 6100 graced my home.

3) The guide information is only 44 hours even though current recievers can have upto 9 days of guide information. It seems they want you to sub to their VU magazine, as when I wrote asking for a bigger guide, they spent a good portion of their response on the VU Magazine.

4) No 24 hr HD movie channel at least in the west. There is talk that the reason for this is that they want *C to carry TSN-HD and Discovery HD on dedicated channels even though they provide nothing in HD programming.

5) Forcing a $3 rate increase if you have the old programming packages, which translates into about a 6.5% increase in cost for me. This seems to be a way to try and force old package subs to buy into their increased cost new packages.

6) Trying to get ppl to buy PPV for sports programming (Boxing) at $50 when the same programming is available south of the border and is included in the programming packages.

7) They do nothing to getting programming into Canada, but are one of the biggest fighters to keep Canadians from getting American channels though the grey market. This probably has more to do with the fact that they have crap networks they own and they do not want any type of competition where they may have to actually spend some money (also see #6).

8) BGM is just to big in this country, allowing them to control too much!

Hugh, you took the words out of my mouth...except I have already made the change....NOT once did someone at expressvu try to stop me....I work in sales, and would do anything to stop a customer from crossing the street...hopefully with all the pissed off people on this board, Maybe they might wake up and smell the coffee...................I doub't it Oh ya rogers launches voip in July...........How do u find it works at yor business....

*C doesn't sell the dish. They will install it for you as well.

No one is doubting you can't plug in 2 cables into a 9200 but everyone has rules. You break it for one person and it goes downhill from there.

I am actually surprised that Bell does not force Prof. installs more the more expensive equipment.

Not sure what the 9200 costs Bell but you get some diy's screw up a few bought 9200 and now you have to replace all of them.

Good luck with *C btw. From what I have read on pros and cons the 9200 is far more stable and a lot more feature packed.

Kev unfortunatley this happens a lot. Twice for me. first the boxes weren't in, then rescheduled. Did get a call no boxes (installer called). Rescheduled to Saturday (by Bell). Installer called Friday nite - no prob what time Saturday. Saturday morning installer doing the work, second installer called said they could not make it today.

these things are frustrating to read...i wish there was some way i could help you.

I have Sympatico, Bell long distance, and Express Vu 3100. I get the bell newsletter via email - I got an offer to get the PVR 5920 for $100.00 after credits.

I put in an order ONLINE and "after we have reviewed your account you are already a subscriber" we can not sell the 5920 to you call express vu at their toll free number. The 5900 is not listed as an item for sale online. They only list the 5920 complete with the dish.

Be carefull when you start to get more then one free month of programming offered to you, write the info down on who you spoke to, what time, ect.. I've been in a situation where i have been told i will receive a month free of programming, while i was already on a free month. Well i called bell back after my next bill had a charge on it and all i was told was there was no record of me being offered the 2nd free month.

You wouldn't have lost 5$ Remember that all the networks are included in the base, which use to cost an extra 6.95 on the old package, so you would actually be saving 1.95.

What I find truly amazing about people that complain about Bell, is they scream and yell over a few dollars and then go back to analog cable, then call three months later and ask to be transferred to the loyalty team so they can come back.

Bell is only giving discounts to New subs. Existing customers.....no matter how loyal get NOTHING.

Jeffer.... Not to cast aspersions on your statement, but a few of the ex-dealers I've spoken with have uniformly identified a reduction in the commission rate paid to them to activate new accounts as the driving force for them to leave the fold..... were they yanking my chain ?

OMG....I just had to reply to this. Three months and you say not to get bent out of shape! I am truely at a loss of words to describe your attitude regarding BEV's billing practices. All I know is I best stop before I even get worked up about it and then regret something I say.

Not offended in the least, after all it is just TV, nothing more, nothing less. But, you took one line out of what EVUCSR wrote and ignored the part about vacation time being 6 weeks to 6 months ... IE not just winter ... anytime. EVU isn't telling anyone when to take their vacation.

If you are saying that EVU should have longer vacation time than 6 months, then your point wasn't clear in your post.

Actually NBR is not a basic function, it is actually alot more complicated than saying record from 7pm to 9pm on channel xxx. NBR records by name, allows you to record only new shows, allows you to record from any channel the show is on or record from a certain channel. This is hardly basic, but is close to being essential. Right now the 9200 is really a Hi-Def VCR in function, one we get NBR and a longer guide it will be a caddy of a receiver.
