Is there a E61 Compatible SIP VoIP service that can call phones?

configuring the typical home router to work well with a WiFi VOIP device frequently takes some work. Easiest, but not necessarily safest, thing to do is to put the VOIP device on the DMZ.

It was late when I was doing it and i got frustrated. Its actually inthe installation instruction.

So I got the program installed (on top of firmware upgrade - required) and i am amazed. I called a couple of people in US and they all said it sounded like a landline. My connection at work is a bit buggy so i did hear some noises but generally perfect.

I need something for dominican to stay in touch and avoid the $400 roaming charge this is perfect.

I was actually able to call myself and leave a voicemail which got delivered to my email as a Wav.file.

The cost of calling overseas is close to what the calling cards provide and about half of what the current best plan out there is.
It seems that calls to a cell phone are still pretty costly but I imagine thats european provides fault.

I do like the fact that regardless of where you are inthe world you can receive local calls from us and call semi local to us and canada.

I plan on using this when i go on my vacation. Most of the better resorts in the carribean provide wifi.

This service is much better than what i expected.

Well i just tried using gizmo via wifi at crazy sushi and the call quality was great.. Just a bit delayed. It def. Works if you use those settings
 
good to thear that, i think i better try it now...

i think one of the reasons truephone is working good is the fact that the application is actually designed primarily for the E-series... cheers!
 
As written on their website, its free to call other gizmo users (worthless to me), but you can add credits to call other numbers or to recieve calls...

This is all on the website, take a look if you plan on using the service, it will save you from having these doubts...
 
SKype says they are developing a S60 client, but they've been saying that for over a year. This won't work on the n80 to my knowledge because it only has SIP support, and not a built in SIP client.
 
Ive got this working and have tried it on my own network as well as at my moms (Both D-Link DI-524s) and the sound quality was absolute crap.

Anyways, I think for most of us (at least for me) the idea was to test the SIP functionalit and see that it does work...

Whether we use it would greatly depend on the amount of coverage of wifi each one has, and whether the price of such calls is priced lower than the normal cell calls.

But no, generally, nothing useful is free in this realm...(and when its "free" you usually need to listen to a ******** of ads or crap, so in the end you waste your time, making the cost of time much greater than just paying for whatever service you wanted - at least in my case)
