Is there a E61 Compatible SIP VoIP service that can call phones?

you get a text message with a link
make sure you put in your phone number with a plus (select elsewhere than uk) +1 area code phone number

I am trying to figure out how to turn the internet phone on an off.

I could make a connection to wifi at home (wep enabled) and truphone would not connect.

At work on an open network as soon as it hit a connection it registered the phone and i could use it

How do I turn the truphone on and off? And also is there away to establish a wlan connection with a network without browsing? Just kind of turn it on.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

If anyone wants to test out a truphone to truphone connection pm me.
Thanks,
Paul

I'm using an Airport Extreme + Express network, and I read somewhere that it's easier to get it to work if you use NAT routing, which can be disabled through the Airport Admin Utility.

I am doing it now, and supposedly if you do that, it could work. Although I can't even get mine to register...

Basically there isnt a workaround for getting free stuff that costs money....... If you had read the website prior to downloading you would have understood.

Seriously, if it is useful to you, and it will allow you to save money, why are you against paying for it? If it has some value to you, you shouldnt be against paying, and if it doesnt have any value then you wouldnt want to use it...

am I completely off?

My reading of the website is that its "kind of" free. The gist is that calls to other Gizmo users are free, but that includes calls to their landlines and cell-phones.

For example, I am planning on going on vacation to Australia next month and would like to be able to call me parents back here in the USA. I think all they need to do is open their own free Gizmo account and enter their land-line phone number in the database and then I can call them for free on their land-line.

Still not a bad deal. And if I'm reading their website correctly, general purpose land-line/cellphone calling is only 1 cent a minute which is close enough to free for me.

Interestingly, when I set up my account, they started me off with a 25 cent credit. Not sure why other people are immediately getting prompted to buy minutes.

Now on the down side, my one test call sounded like "POOP" as someone else described it. Hopefully it was just my router here at work. I'll try again at home later, but my first test call had unusable voice quality.

If you had the read the website you would have known that it was only FREE to call other Gizmo Project users. Gizmo Project has saved people money and this wasn't a complete waste of time if you had learn to read properly.

How do you guys install and use multiple providers? I thought that you could only use one at a time.

Do you go into interenet telephone settings and choose the one you want to use?

Skype just issued an annoucement that they were holding off on developing a mobile client because there just wasn't enough handsets out there that supported. Someone has, however, patched together a third party solution. I doubt it will be as elegant, but...

Yes, but disabling NAT won't work for me because I only have one public IP to work with. I wouldn't be able to operate more than my phone on my network, and my firewall would be gone. Nokia also say they are working on a NAT traversal fix in upcoming firmware

Just go into tools, settings, connection, SIP settings, options, add new, use default profile & then put in your new provider. Once that's done go into Internet tel. settings, options, create new profile.

I hope this helps.

So I tried this on my home router and it sounded equally like poop. Dunno what the deal is, this seems like one of those things that should either work perfectly or not at all. Hope someone figures it out, I want to be able to use it in Australia.

Is there any way to get info on errors and such?

I was able to get to connect on sipphone.com (gizmo proj), but cant get it to work on my business IP phone System... All the configs are adjusted, but is says "Internet Phone Service not available".... with no errors except for this... is there a log?

I have voicestick's VOIP working with my E61 with the version 2 firmware. The configuration was fairly straight forward.

Details here of what worked for me.

Change the phone number from 14255551212 (must begin with 1 matching your voicestick username/number)

All this is in Tools->Settings->Connection

SIP settings:
Profile: Voicestick
Service Profile: IETF
Default Access Point: whatever wifi access point you intend to use
Public username: [email protected] (use your phone number here)
Use Compression: no
Registration: when needed
Use security: no (N.B. this is not the default)

Proxy Server settings
Proxy server: 206.165.50.116
Realm: i2telecom.com
Username: 14255551212 (use your phone number here)
Password: PASSWORD (your voicestick password here - same one you use to login to account management)
Allow loose routing: YES
Transport Type: udp
Port: 5060

Registrar Server Settings
Registrar serv. addr: 206.165.50.116
Realm: i2telecom.com
Username: 14255551212 (use your phone number here)
Password: PASSWORD (your voicestick password here)
Transport type: udp
Port: 5060

In Internet Tel settings set the name as Default, and SIP profile as Voicestick

Outside of the SMS issues, it strikes me that you can replicate the effect of TMobiles UMA with one of these plans (or Truevoice which is what I am playing with) and a conditional call forward to your mobile when you are not on line.

hey i am in Jamaica and wondered if anyone knew if i would be able to set up my e61 with netspeak

here is the product page

http://home.cwjamaica.com/content/products_services/business/adsl/netspeakindex.php

would really appreciate if someone could check it out and give me a response

www.gizmoproject.com is asking for your CC? They shouldn't for a free account, only if you want to buy minutes to use to call real phones or to buy a number for real phones to call you.

In any event, (the real) Gizmo's safe - they're a real company.

Yeah, it asked me for my CC cause I thought I needed a phone number, how else do I enter the settings on my e61? Sorry just trying to follow the process so I can use this using the wifi on my phone. Oh, this does work for us canuks right?

It works for anyone...

Just go into "Download Now", get the client for wqindows, or whatever your platform is... then install that, and it allows you tosignup fromthe program.

No credit card...

then you configure as per this post, and it should work...

THEN, if you need the extra services, you can add your CC
