Is there a E61 Compatible SIP VoIP service that can call phones?

Got those settings entered on to my e61, from MCH. Got an account with voice stick. But in under SIP Settings it says VoiceStick - Not registered... how do I register? Do i need to get another account or is voicestick the only one I need to get VoIP?

Thanks guys.

The requirements mention SIP, so I would guess it might work.... nonetheless, call them up and ask if it works with any standard SIP client or if it needs to be a special software/phone that they supply.

For those who got bad sound quality, you might try to read these posts.

Read the first post to help you setup pbxes extension and trunk. However, for the setting on your phone, I found that the setting on second post works well for me.

I have done this method and found that sound quality is much better compare to when I registered to sipphone.com. Also, I now can accept incoming call from my friends (I have been using gizmo for several months and I have bought call out credit and virtual number).

However, I have tried registering my phone to 2 different AP (one is DI-524 in my home and the other one is WRT54G at work). What I found is I cannot make or receive calls after registering a while from my DI-524. WRT54G works fine for hours. I think it will be about router setting.

I am convinced that the inconsistency we are getting on E61 and SIP is from our routers. Else how is it someone with the same phone, same settings cannot connect? The variable must be the router. Now if someone can tell us which routers work that would be great. or which routers don't work. Someone of us with firewall routers may not be aware of the default ports that are blocked by the router. I am thinking of buying a sip aware router but before I spend my cash, perhaps someone can shed some light on the router factor.

Unfortunately, I need a US based provider with some mechanism for calling US land-lines.

Edit: Actually, reading that article more closely...maybe this would work. I don't understand the relationship between PBX and Gizmo.

Got myself set up with Gizmo & I must say that the calling quality is crap...But I got my E60 working with voip...Not good voice call quality but I got it connected...

go into the gizmo client, and go into preferences, or something... there it shows your "number"....

it is just that the number isnt active for recieving calls until you pay... but your userid is always a number

i have gizmo setup on my e61 and it works great. sound quality is crystal clear. you can call 800 numbers for free it seems. i have an actiontec dsl modem and a linksys 54g wireless router running the wrt project stuff. i have no ports forwarded or anything and it works just fine.

if i call the echo test after the crappy recording it sounds great, or when calling 800 numbers the sound quality is perfect. i am very impressed. when using tzones to call numbers the quality is less than perfect but it is just using the edge network, lol. using tzones makes lots of pops and cracks and it is useless but over wifi it works great.

maybe it has something to do with internet speeds. my dsl is only 1500 kbps down but gets 968 kbps up. however when looking at the data transfer logs it doesn't seem to be moving that much data.

it took me around 2 hours to install Gizmo via Pbxes on my e61, I would say it is quite difficult for a newbie, I made some call abroad and in canada and the call quality was very good. and quite cheap 1.2 cent US for a minute in canada, and 2.8 cents US to estonia.

I use a us robotics usr 8054 with bell high speed dsl.

I thought it would be free at the beginning but I did not read everything on their website, is there a free worldwide sip system to make free call to landlines ?

Try truphone's installation as a test (www.truphone.com). They have the best NAT penetration I've seen. You can also increase your ability to connect by disabling stateful inspection on your router, but there is some risk associated with that approach.

Truphone works great. Actually works with my T-mobile GPRS. I have the total internet plan. Make sure you are placed on internet2.voicestream.com. That is as good as your Wifi internet connection. With truphone I can make calls even when I am away from my Wifi and it is very clear. Free to US line is cool, but till the end of year? That spoils the fun. Guess they want to get people hooked. Then add a charge of 1c per min? their international rate to the country I call most often is not competitive, so I will still try and get some other VOIP to work. Now if US call was free for life, then no need to shop.

At least now I know that my SIP works. Although do other SIP providers have to work as hard as Truphone? or Nokia should do something....Probably come out with E65 and make us upgrade...ha-ha

I've been using Gizmo for a few weeks now on my E61, but only for unimportant cheap calls. Like calling a friend to say im there to pick him/her up, or asking what time for something.

The thing is, Gizmo sounds like crap even if you use their PC software. It's not the phone.

I dont know why so many people got WiFi problems, and why they need a VOiP frequency for their wireless routers. I got a cheap cheap D-Link DI-524 and I didnt even need to open special ports. The SIP client connects to the internet, not a frequency.

I can even get it to work over GPRS. There is a 1 second delay between the time I speak and the time the other person hears me. But there is a 0.2 second delay for me to hear the other person speaking. So, for 1.1 cents a minute, it's not so bad.

Though Id suggest you guys upgrade the firmware. When I had the original firmware of E61, it was impossible to hear each others over GPRS, and sometimes even WiFi. Now it's decent with the new firmware, there is no skipping or distortion, so you can talk on it, though still low quality.

I did try VoIPtalk, but aside from the echo test, I couldnt do anything else to test. The quality was much better on the echo test, so Id say its possible to get good VoIP on the E61, even on GPRS, as long as you find a good service provider.

Like I said, I got gizmo working on my E60 but my friend on his landline said I sounded muffled & I hear clicking sound every 2-3 secs. on my end, not his. I called my brother on his cellular & he didn't recognize me & hung up not before saying "you got a wrong number, buddy!" : ) Any special set ups I should know about. I use the setup outlined by Surfbywire earlier on this thread.

When I registered my E61 to sipphone.com alone, the sound quality was so bad. Also, I could not receive incoming calls.

I, then, setup sipphone.com+pbxes.org. Now, not only I got good sound quality but I am also able to receive the incoming calls....

Read my post before on how to set up the services...
