I used Video Island up until late last year, had no faults with the service at all and would recommend them. I cancelled as I didn't have time between work and studying to watch the DVRAB :( Believe they are now called Screenselect.

I've been with them for about 2 months, their turnaround isn't too bad, but I've had a couple of new releases as "first choice" since the start of March, but they never get sent out. I also have some on "second choice" which are a bit older, and today they sent me out a "third choice"
How long have you had to wait for a new release? I don't expect to get them the day they come out, but I thought I'd get them quicker than this.

Any chance you could explain what you mean here? I'm with screenselect and when they send me a dvd it drops from my list, so how is yours 'out of date' me no understandy.

Blockbuster also has a very quick turnaround. It takes about 2 days after I've sent one back for the other to arrive.

Someone mentioned that Amazon has a monthly rental limit. SounRAB a bit tight to me. As far as I'm aware Blockbust doesn't have that.

Does anyone know of a good website that specialises in foreign language films? Specificaly Hong Kong cinema or German cinema?

Has anybody used this type of service and if so does it work well i.e. are titles usually in stock. I am thinking of using Lovefilm.com. They charge

I have just switched to Blockbuster as mentioned previously from Love film, i am really disappointed, i had had nothing from the top 3 of my list yet. On the 3 disc free trial.

Love film were excellent, looks like i will cancel and return to them.

I think that it will be from somewhere like Kazaa or some other file sharing program, they are usually divx files so you will need the codec to be able to watch them other wise all you'll get is sound.

Go to http://www.divx.com/ to download the codecs, and you will then be able to watch them in Windows Media Player or Realone.

And I just came across a site dedicated to screenselect- ScreenSelect.me.uk

Recent DVD news...

Lovefilm have bought out Movie Choices - the best there ever was, which has subsequently gone done hill. One membership I won't be renewing at the end of the month.

Screenselect no longer offer free trials and are instead offering people four free rentals when you sign up.

I'm thinking of cancelling sky movies and joining an online rental service. The only query i have is how long would i have to wait for a new release before i received it.Would it take weeks or even a few months.

I find Screen Select's service extremly poor, having been with them for 6 months, they are incredibly slow at sending out DVD's, in addition they rarely send out anything from my priority list.

I switched to love film and every week I get the first 4 items on my rental list, how's that for service !!!

ive still had no reply from lovefilm about the dvd that i didnt recieve. and they wont cancel my account until they have the dvRAB back. all emails i have recieved from lovefilm have all been automated emails, does anyone ACTUALLY work for them????

Lovefilm is fab been using it coming up to 2 months. Get a referral and you get a month free.

Refer someone who goes on to be a member get another month free and a free DVD.

Good turnaround - one day back to them, DVD sent out that day, gets to you the following day.

And a superb selection including TV boxsets.
