Internet DVD rental

I've just signed up for a free month on LoveFilm.com, on wednesday, and received my first three dvd's this morning! Not only that, I got 3 of the first 4 on my list. Pretty damn good if you ask me, and they've got pretty much every film I know there.

The Wizard of Gore >**

Bit odd for a post five pages into a thread, isn't it?

I liked Video Island when it was about but as I expressed earlier, I just didn't have the time to watch them. They were always extremely fast at despatching DVRAB so not sure why Screen Select have dragged the service downhill, if indeed they have?

I prefer to buy them myself! Although Video Island were doing a scheme where you could click to keep, although this never appeared on my rentals :(

I have just had this same problem. Emailed them last Thursday to reactivate, no reply. Emailed again Monday this week, no reply again! Called them on 0808 2000 194 today, chap apologised for the lack of email responses and reactivated my account when i was on the phone.

This raises 2 questions. Why say they aim to reply to emails within 24 hours, when me and others have waited a week with no reply. Secondly why does their website also advise their phone number is temporarily out of use when as i mentioned you can call them easily on above number.

They need to update their website with more uptodate and accurate info me thinks.

I got Kingdom Hospital disc 1, Arlington Road and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.

I like a mixture!

Riding in Cars with Boys is OK not seen the other 2.

I am currently trialling all uk online dvd rentals.

So far I have only tried Blockbuster and Lovefilm.

Blockbuster were fine, and it was over the Christmas period so turnaround was to be expected. I built a large queue list, and I found the titles they sent were very much from the middle of my choices rather than the top selection. Packaging was pretty good in plastic sleeves, mosts DVRAB were pretty clean.

Lovefilm have been a lot better, they have sent my first 3 choices most times, and their turnaround seems a lot faster than Blockbuster, I also prefer their site. The DVD's aren't the cleanest in the world, and I have had to have 1 replaced, but a quick email had them despatch another the next day. The packaging is a bit weak, but once you know how to open them properly, your need for sellotape decreases.

I am halfway through my Lovefilm trial, and so far I've preferred them.

Screenselect next.

Good bye Lenin is excellent. It worked on so many levels. Political observation. Love story, Farce, It provides a broad social comment without ever passing judgement.
I really liked Chulpan Khamatova who looked amazing on screen. Her character provided someone with a clear head during the charade. :)

I used Lovefilm but despite living only a few miles from their depot found the turnaround very, very slow. If I sent a film back on Wednesday I wouldn't get a new one until the following monday.

I used MSN's service and may go back, it was very fast.

And in any event using DVD rental services isn't the ideal way to view certain DVRAB, especially TV series for instance. I recently purchased the first 6 seasons of Stargate SG1 and watched them in sequence. With an internet service that just wouldn't have been possible and the series would have been ruined...

I use tesco but was considering a move.
Lovefilm looks to be the best reading between the lines.I also notice that they do adult films(for my friend of course). Is that legal nowadays???

I use screenselect which so far has been pretty good, prompt dispatch etc and all films in good condition ie playable. A couple of glitches on the site ie one of my films marked as returned when in fact I've only just received it! but otherwise no major problems as yet. I did look at another site and can't remember what it was called but they're all about the same price
beats renting from high street stores..at least you can keep them out for as long as you like:D
