IGN Top 100 Animated TV Series Talkback

Now see, thats your opinion and you are most certainly entitled to it. I, personally, could never stand that show, probably because I din't grow up with it like a lot of users here.

On the other hand, I think Pokemon should be higher, though I'm glad it was on the list at all.

Star Trek: TAS, Clone Wars, Sealab 2021 and Frisky Dingo are my surprises.

Star Trek: TAS because I've barely even heard of it.

Clone Wars because it's too early to list it.

Frisky Dingo and Sealab 2021 because it's likely a tribute because of their studio closing down.

I agree with Serithe that Avatar is too low down on the list for my taste, especially considering a reason of it's placing seeming to be that it's "too anime-like." (BS, IMO). Not to mention there are several shows higher up than it on the countdown that really shouldn't be (Muppet Babies anyone?) I would have placed it some where between 25-5.

But come now, saying it HAS to be number one or in the top five? Don't you think that's asking too much here? Lord knows I love Avatar, but blind fanboyism is never good for anything, and your post certainly screams blind fanboyism to me.

Agreed. The first season of SSM was great and all, but IMO it doesn't match up to Gargoyles in it's entirety just yet. With more time, maybe, but with just one season? No.

Those people would be kidding themselves.

It seems to me the people who made the list haven't actually watched Avatar...their description page talks about the show's popularity, anime influences, and a theme park but makes no mention of the actual plot or characters. Looks awfully fishy to me.

I think they just heard about that Avatar show all those kids are talking about these days, figured it must be decent, and decided to throw it on the list with a random ranking.

Our opinions are reversed on the shows most likely because of our ages and when we grew up and all. I couldn't stand Pokemon and still cant, but if the top 100 was based on success, it would be in the top 10-15 for sure.

X-Men is surprisingly high. I wouldn't know how to do a list like this, though. I'd probably end up putting Avatar at number 1 and the rest would just be superhero cartoons.

Kids, kids, no need to fight. Lets just all agree that TMNT and Pok?mon both stink.

And thats why i dont like lists like these: because they always obviously take in popularity as atleast one factor when they decide what goes on the list. Pok?mon and TMNT are both prime examples of shows of zero quality, but that still "have" to be on the list simply because they were/are popular.

While I do agree with you regarding the quality of Avatar, I also don't think that it would work as number one. I was content with it being at 35 and I could have seen in being in the top twenty, but I think that going beyond that would have been a bit too high. Avatar is a great animated series and in my opinion one of the best to come out recently, but I don't think that the best either. Of course, that's just my opinion. Just like this list is only an opinion and opinions are not facts.

I'm also glad that the new Spider-Man series made the list. I also think that it deserves that spot for its good storyline and character development within its first season.

Again, Blind Fanboyism does not help anything. Once more, I love Avatar, but this kind of fanboyism just makes the rest of the fans of the show look bad (alot like the DCAU/JLU fans, really.) Please...just stop. :raven:

Agreed. I repeat; I love Avatar dearly, but there are still a number of animated shows I could name of the top of my head that I consider a little better (Again, I detest all the rabid DCAU/JLU fanboyism, but damn it, Batmas TAS was just that GOOD!)

Well we can safely say Family Guy, Looney Tunes, Simpsons, South Park, and probably Batman: the Animated series will be in the Top 10. Probably a few more short theatrical 'toons as well. Doubt we'll see anything surprising in it.

1. I really only found slight dissapointment in the third season. I think alot of the bigger dissapointment some people have has more to do with their expectations being too high than the show itself. Even in the weaker first half of the season, it was perfectly enjoyable for me and IMO better than many other animated shows that were on at the time (save for Spectacular Spider-Man and whatnot.)

2. Agreed with that except for B:TAS. I repeat: damn it, it was that GOOD! I definately agree that, the way things are going, B:TAS, Simpsons, and South Park will be (and deserve to be) in the top 10 (Family Guy is another matter, but I won't go into that...)

Superman: TAS is my favorite DCAU show. Lex Luthor, Darkseid, and Brainiac are the perfect three villains for Superman. I never felt that kind of friction between Batman and his villains, not even with The Joker.
