Gay themed movies 2: "And they tell you its not natural."

it was definitely hopeful. and I had a feeling while watching like reading someones diary but not really feeling guilty about it cause it was given to me willingly. does it make sense? and it also seemed so long but not in the sense that I was looking at my watch but in the sense that so much had happened

some people said it was too one sided but I think thats the part of the brilliance of it. we are seeing his side. his struggles, his reasons, his life. we are not asked to take a side. we are told a story of an extra-ordinary man. that doenst need another side

Now there's a slash fest!

Recently I looked at the filmography of James Duval (Frank in "Donnie Darko"), and realized he played a gay teenager in several films by Gregg Araki in the '90's. I've never seen any of Araki's movies, because they sounded depressing as heck. "The Doom Generation" is listed on the first page of this thread already. "Totally [Effed] Up" is about gay teen suicide, and comes before "Doom" in Araki's gay teen wastoid trilogy. "Nowhere" is the third. I've not seen them, but I'm mentioning them here because they probably belong in the page one list, and because I'm curious to hear from people who have seen them if they are good.

I just looked at Sundance news on IMDB, and they say Araki has a new film there called Mysterious Skin. The plot synopsis: Mysterious Skin

Sounds like an above-average Roswell ep, actually. Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn on "Buffy") is in it.

Die, Mommy, Die is out on video now. I saw it last year. The main female character is played by female impersonator Charles Busch. Jason Priestley is entertaining as a gigolo simultaneously seducing the mother, daughter, and son in the family.

bump....new life to an old thread...

i saw a pretty good "gay themed" film today in a theater.....

'for the bible tells me so'

is a documentary about the various ways that christians reconcile their religious beliefs with their relationships with gay relatives, told primarily through the personal stories of five families (including former presidential candidate dick gephardt). the movie also explores how the subject resonates politically and attempts to determine what the bible actually says about homosexuality.

probably this film won't change anyone's mind that's already been made up on this topic....but it's an interesting film to watch.......

omg the broken hearts club was great. i loved it. it was so funny.

btw simply blue who is that is ur avie? :look:

Yeah I thought it was such a well written script and I remember reading reviews of people who knew Harvey and said it captured him. I know the movie was sad, but in a way it was uplifting in the same way. That no matter how hard people try to stop people who are different from being silent, this proves that they will always continue to live.

the priest is still my favourite gay movie.

I wonder if the director's cut version is still out on dvd? Anyone?

so I finally saw Milk and it was so beautifuly sad.

I love love love all the actors. not only Sean, but James, and Diego and Lucas and Emil especially. and I love the music.

and now I know why the script received an Oscar.

 I'll be on the look out for that one and those others you mentioned. Thanks! :D
