Funimation "Roll-out Riot" Talkback

ADV released Destroy All Monsters I believe, dubbed and subbed.

And @Funkatron.
Yes and The First was great! .. now if rab would release The Next...

Yes..yes I was. but i did'nt say anything super bad like some others have, just that I was dissapointed, cause well, I am, But back on topic...I wonder who would win in a fight between Robogeisha & Robocop? lol.

even if for some odd reason they had to re-dub it (i dont see why they would though), why cant they just hire the same voice people and just do all the same things the old company did and then just call it the new re-dub (but it wont be any different at all from the old dub).

The complainers are wrong. They can't accept a company wanting to branch out. Besides, with BCI gone, Funimation is now the main video arm of Navarre. I honestly expect them to announce the He-Man and She-Ra cartoons (a BCI release) during this roll-out now.
I am, too. Slowly, but I'm starting to like it a lot. Things like Sentai and Tomica Hero and Kamen Rider got me interested. At AWA this past Septeraber, I visited two video rooms the most: the anime room that was next to the main video room (where I watched Rin, K-ON!, and Detroit Metal City), and the live-action room (DMC and 20th Century Boys 1: Beginning of the End). If I didn't watch 20CB there, I would have never bought it until I read the manga (which would have been a while). There's some good movies, and I may visit it more when I go back there in Septeraber. And, I'm glad that Funi is going after these movies. I'll take a shot at them, along with Viz's and Media Blasters' libraries.

I do want anime, though. And, if they managed to snag Xam'd Lost Memories away from Sony CE/PlayStation, it would trump anything else announced during this event. What would be better than Dragon Ball Kai or Summer Wars? Being able to legitimately own an anime that's only available to rent off of the PlayStation Store.

Glad to see FLCL is at a new, stable home.

I do hope the dub stays, it's one of the best dubs ever IMO. Only way it's gonna go is if some contract or something gets in the way and forces FUNi to re-record a new dub.

One Piece needed a new dub. FLCL doesn't.

Many of those actors have become union and pre-lay, Kari Wahlgren and Steve Blum in particular. The only way to do that would be to make the dub union, which means it will be a lot more expensive than a typical FUNi dub, it'll be Naruto-level expensive. Granted, it's for six episodes, not 200-odd episodes, but still.

No, if they have to redub FLCL, they're gonna do it in-house so they don't have to deal with unions. They're already dealing with a union for Slayers Revolution/Evolution-R (because of Crispin Freeman's involvement). They're not going to do it again if they don't have to.

They'll probably only re-dub it if they can't get the rights to the English audio track. Clearly the Japanese side of things is go, but the English audio might be occupying a legal gray area, or the previous company is hanging onto it for some reason.

Edit: Ah! Macattack beat me to it. X)

No, I don't think that's it much of the time, and maybe even most. I think whether it had been at the start of the year or during a convention, you'd still have claims that Funi was "wasting" a significant event on live action. Quite a few negative comments are basically "what, live action? Don't troll me, I only want anime!"

Yeah, that's an odd situation. I wonder if that arrangement wouldn't mess up the video streaming rights for an eventual license. Maybe not, since other anime that stream free are also gettable on Playstation Network as it is.

I've heard of this FLCL, but never have I watched it...or seen anything about it. Hmmm...

...it'd be interesting if FUNimation had/choose to created their own dub...

Sacred Blacksmith and Axis Powers Hetalia.

EDIT: Crap. Beaten to it.

Wasn't Hetalia hinted at last year? When they hid those postcarRAB all over their website as clues and one of them said "Hey Talia!"?

Hopefully I'm reading too much into the comment "Your day is coming." I ead that as in only 1 day of anime announcements. Then again, if they announce they have acquired the rights to release all the Kamen Rider series, including Dragon Knight, then they'll be getting a larger portion of my paycheck than they already are.
