Funimation "Roll-out Riot" Talkback

There are anime fans that also like good Asian movies. I'm one of em. Every anime convention I've been to that I can remeraber had a video room for live action stuff. There are people, and presumably there's enough of a market for it to be worthwhile. I'd be more upset if they were all C-grade flicks, but it seems at least a handful will be worth it.

Don't get me wrong though, I'd really like to see some anime announced next.

I never said it was trash.

Yeah, I'm not excited for it at all, and that is a factor into my disappointment here, but the main factor is that this is FUNimation's Roll Out. FUNimation is known for licensing anime, so for big announcements like this, you expect anime, not a collection of live action movies that the majority of us have probably never heard of nor will ever care about.

It probably would have been better suited to announce it in another place and time is all I'm saying.

I guess we'll still have to wait and see whether they're going to announce more than one title for the remaining four days... Or if they're just going to have more live action stuff...

I could see FUNi getting stuck with Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon as a condition for being able to license the Sailor Moon anime.

Wishful thinking, or am I on to something...

Complaints are pointless if it's just live-action they're announcing. With most of them having goldfish attention spans, they'll forget in a week once they announce some animerz.

I really can't imagine the dub without Rita Repulsa, Fuu, and freakin Angemon. There's nothing wrong with the direction either, and I honestly don't know why they're even considering re-dub when their other rescues didn't even blink at the thought.

Silly Funi, live action is for Adult Swim.

But seriously, I'm disappointed that my picks haven't surfaced yet even though that's what always happens. But these announcements don't make me mad. They're rolling out multiple titles per day and that's really cool. For all we know, some (if not all) of these action movies might be better than the newer anime titles out there. If it's good, I'll gladly share my wallet with them.

At this rate, we could have a day where they announce multiple license rescues like a bunch of Sailor Moon titles or Illumitoon's catalog OR new shows.

All I have to say is if they felt they should retain the Love Hina dub and redub FLCL then something is seriously wrong at FUNimation.

I don't think they'll redub and I don't think a company would tell them to do that when all parties involved know it's more economic to re-release it with the current dub.

I'm really glad FUNI got FLCL, now the DVD will be at a reasonable price when its rereleased..But I reallly hope they keep the origional Dub. some things don't need Re-dubbing. FLCL is one of them.

I've already heard of RoboGeisha beforehand, but now that FUNi has it...

...They've reached a higher level of the Anime Olympus now. I dunno about you guys, but I think them acquiring that is amazing.

Forget Zone fighter, we still need subbed releases of Destroy all monsters, King Kong vs. Godzilla, Godzilla vs. megalon, and All of Heisei save G.vs MG 93, AND G2K!

My god. First they capture the anime fans by making them rely on FUNi for licenses. Then they rescue tons of dropped anime and then they convert all of the asian live-action movie watchers who dislike anime into anime fans by showing them that they appeal to both mediums.

All so that they can eventually take over the world

IIRC, as of a few years ago, Disney owns all US rights to Super Sentai, lock stock and barrel. Yes, they even bought the rights to everything pre-Zyuranger (the only reason for which I can assume is to prevent such a release from another company).

What someone SHOULD try are uncut releases of the recent Kamen Rider series. Funimation could have a lot of fun with dubbing Den-O.

Does Disney simply have the broadcast and ownership of the Saban era dubs? I forget, because if not so...a subtitled or hybrid release with a new dub of Series 1-3 might not be impossible...

...but again, FUNimation will likely announce something smaller.

Or surprise us to all hell and back with a One Piece Strong World announcement in fourty minutes.
