Funimation "Roll-out Riot" Talkback

The argument of all parties knowing it would be more economic is completely true. The question is the stupid fine print, how much money would it cost to keep the original dub and would it be worth it. Obviously the answer is yes, but, FUNi has made some odd choices before as someone else has pointed out.

regardless, let us be glad of one thing, FLCL DVRAB

Live action is fine (jidaigeki fan here), and I understand the company's desire to branch out, but I was under the impression that this week was for new anime acquisitions. That being said I will patiently wait some new anime catches.

I think the problem is, some fans assumed that a week of new licenses meant solely anime, especially since previous "week long" roll-outs have been this way. But FUNi never once said that all the new titles would be animated. They just said new acquisitions. And as has been said, this isn't FUNi's first jump into live action, not by a long shot. What's the lesson here? Never assume.

Anyway, I enjoy kung fu/martial arts (one thing, for how fast it often is) so I might give these a shot. By any chance, do any of these movies have exaggerated violence like Riki-Oh?

(Maybe FUNi will eventually license Tiger and Crane Fist, which Kung Pow used extensive footage from?)

Interesting. I have not heard about Hetalia but I have heard and seen The Sacred Blacksmith. It would be interesting to see which voice actors to use in The Sacred Blacksmith.

Meh. It's just a flavor of the time frame we're in right now. Besides Funi already owns all the stuff I'm looking forward to so I don't see why they shouldn't be doing something different.

A cheaper release of FLCL, possibly upscaled for its release, definitely has me interested.

Fingers are crossed that the old dub isn't thrown away.

Gotta say, the premise for Hetalia sounRAB pretty unique. I'll be keeping an eye on that one.

Anything particularly special about Blacksmith, though? Can't say the description did much for me.

Funimation "Roll-out Riot" Talkback

I wouldn't hold out for Dragon Ball Kai being licensed. I can't remeraber off my head if anyone else has licensed it yet, so Toei--being Toei--might be holding out for a while. Dragon Ball Kai seems to be the biggest license FUNimation could announce (save for Ossu! Son Gok

At a recent (meaning within the last four months) anime convention a Funi actor dropped a huge hint that Kai might have already been picked up and casting decisions were already being put in place.

Besides that, why would they NOT get the license to this. This is Funimation who had re-released and repackaged DBZ how many times now?

I just don't see them announcing it until possibly the summer or later because it would hurt their DBox sales if they pick it up now, and from what I understand the DBox is already a hard sell as it is.

The Chris Sabat interview? He was speaking theoritically, about

I never said they would not pick up Dragon Ball Kai. I did say, however, that it is not likely to come very quickly. It's still airing in Japan, and Toei is still putting out their domestic release. It took quite a while for us to get the Dragon Box masters for Dragon Ball Z alone.

By 'hard sell' are you insinuating sales have been bad? The set is aimed fans of the original Japanese, but after the Orange Brick dabacle I'm sure there's plenty coming out of the woodwork for a good product.

Well, at least everyone can shut-up about Live-Action. (lulz)
Now to the subject at hand...
Personally? I dunno if this overtly a Great thing. Good, sure.
But there was something "HA-HA-Huh-Ha-HA! I have it and YOU DON'T" about actually owning Synch-Point's release but oh well, at least people will be able to see if they already didn't on adult swim, one of the great masterpiece of animation in general (oh yes, I went there).

And FUNimation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I swear to Ra, there better not be a redub in the works or heaRAB and lirabs will fly!

Another Note: As being ultra Blu-Ray as I am now, I'm still questioning buying a Blu-Ray release.
... I do have Synch-Point's "FLCL Ultimate Edition" box set. . .

Well, the big question is whether FUNi thinks it could be another stepping stone of shojo

To be fair, their wasn't even an anime or an LA out when the manga was localized.

Well, FLCL is weirder than RoboGeisha, so I guess that means I was wrong.

IIRC Gainax already did a proper upscale when they remastered it for what ended up in the US as the LE boxset, so Blu-Ray should be pretty enough for a double-dip (well, triple dip if you're me.)

It'd be nice if they kept all of the extras as well, especially if they get the original dub. They should swing for the dub cast's commentary and the Japanese commentary as well. I mean, this especially since it's been done so well before, isn't the time be all "veridian collection" and jam it on to one stripped down DVD or Blu-Ray for 30 bucks. Do that in 18 months or something.
