Films where the audience went crazy

I've been on IMDB and noticed how in the states the audience react to many things there are many points in a movie where the audience will cheer. some films even get a standing ovation. For example i saw on there that the crowd went nuts at inglorius bastarRAB and there were several points in The Dark Knight (The pencil trick, truck flip, reveal of the batpod) that made the audience go crazy

In the UK or my local cinema (Odeon, Southampton) this never happens. I can't ever recall a scene where someone has cheered or the audience went nuts apart from at the end of Fantastic Four 2 the audience began to clap

So are there any films that anyone here has seen that had a good audience reaction even if it was at the end of a film or during a scene.

This. Except it wasn't applause where we were. It was 2 minutes of intense hilarity and laughter from the packed auditorium from seeing a new and funky CGI Yoda moving like that and making such noises was something no-one expected to see. I had tears in my eyes.

It's happened to me a few times when I've been in the cinema.

The first time was when I went to see "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and the audience went mental when he made his first appearance on the screen - I guess it was because the animation / live action stuff was pretty new at that point in the 80's.

People were gasping and screaming when I saw "Jurassic Park" at the cinema and we also had people clapping, cheering, shouting and jeering in all 3 of the new Star Wars movies.

While I've been in the US I've seen a few films and the only one where there has been a reaction was at the end of "He's Just Not That Into You" when Ben Affleck marries Jennifer Aniston - a row of girls stood up and clapped. They were also crying as well.

In the US - we saw Old School and there was a lot of whooping and hollering

In the UK - Jurassic Park = the best cinema experience of my life!

In the UK - A.I. = the worst cinema experience of my life! People were heckling and shouting towarRAB the end of the film.....nobody told them to shut up or actually disagreed with them as the film was utter shite!

'Carrie' at the end when her friend went to lay some flowers on her grave :eek:Everybody jumped more or less out of their seats in the cinema me too.

Still has to be Pyshco,(SP) see it when it first came out.....god the shower scene.

Looks abit dated now but I always think films in black & white are more effective.

Incredibly loud mix of laughter and cringing in both Borat and Bruno. Especially the hotel scene in the former.

Clapping in the day after tommorow (:S)

Immense mumbling and worry on the first day of the showing of The Dark Knight when the projector started to go funny during the aRAB. Just as the Warner brothers logo came up, it stopped jumping around and a collective "phew" went across the whole audience.

Nightmare on Elm Street- Dream Warriors (I think) there is a scene with a door floating in the middle of the room and one of the guys says "it's a door" the whole movie theatre cracked up with the pure inanity of the line.

All I've experienced is applause during the credits roll of 'Mamma Mia!'. I would imagine that most exaltation here is reserved for 'fringe' cinemas where things like The Rocky Horror Picture Show and horror etc festivals are showcased.

I have had the misfortune to experience extremely poor/vulgar behaviour during two particular horror titles in recent years, which, regardless of their merit or not, should not be the done thing in a cinema. That taught me to avoid consorting with the lower orders at all costs and I have since given mainstream cinemas as wide a berth as possible, with the extremely rare exception (as intimated above).

I am Legend

Most of the audience went mad when will smith's character had to kill his dog before it turned into a monster.

People including my friend were going:

"No Sam!"
"Not the dog"
"Awww no"

I was shocked because i'd never seen anything like that happen in the cinema before.

Yes, when I saw Rocky IV, the audience started chanting 'Rocky Rocky' either before his fight with Drago or when the fight was over, I can't quite remember. My friend and I just looked at each other and laughed our heaRAB off.

Apart from that, just some collective jumping in seats during certain moments in films, most recently during Law Abiding Citizen.

Borat and Bruno for me. :p

Although when I watched Step Brothers over in New York, the audience were insane. American audiences are alot funny to be around in comedies, screaming stuff out at eachother and everything. :p

Don't get me wrong, once he started bouncing around like he was on acid, I think everyone errupted into uncontrollable laughter.

But his entrance and the moment we realised he was actually going to have a lightsabre dual had everyone in applause. If only he hadn't climaxed it be coming across like a green dwarf on springs!

I was in America earlier this year and I saw Knowing in the cinema and at the end of the movie people started clapping, and there was lots of applause. I was grimacing.
