Actually as of Friday I will have no further involvement with Express Vu at all.

I did import Dish Pro Equipment for Commercial & VIP Installations.
 
If you have acces to OTA HD reception you can record 2 shows whilst watching a 3rd Live show.
 
no, i didn't try the analog audio output. Why would I?
Digital SAT PVR, Digital TV, Digital surround AV reciever = Dolby digital 5.1 surround sound.
 
Also, note that my 5900 changes channels within 1 second every time using the same DPP feed...
 
Im new to bell and new to this receiver
Prolly a silly easy question to answer for you guys
I have one receiver the 9242 going to 2 of my tv's
Should I get hd on both tv's with one receiver or do I have to buy another reciever to get hd on both tv's ?
Also I have lost sound for 20 seconds and when Im recording a show while watching another it seems to flicker a bit on the show Im watching
 
Hi Everyone.

I'm new to the 9242 and this forum. Everything looks good -- running audio thru the home theatre, but will try the audio thru HDMI others in the forum have posted about.

The one thing we notice so far is the (ever?) evolving list of PVR actions. In Schedule ... it keeps adding to the list of items even once they are deleted. Is there a limit to this or does it roll over at some point? This isn't clear in the manual provided with the receiver. In theory this list will get so big it will be useless / needless to ever use.

Yesterday I got the receiver dialed in to the satellite at 91 (tree in the way for 82 - I think) -- Will likely install antenna on post today for better view of satellite 82.

i just had my 9242 set up yesterday.

i have an audio issue though... by hooking up hdmi > tv (sony kds-60a3000) and optical > receiver (yamaha rx-v550) i'm getting a noticeable audio delay.

if i just use hdmi > tv and then use the optical out to receiver it works fine. the only issue is that the tv won't output 5.1, so i'm wanting to go from pvr > receiver.

i was trying to find a way to adjust delay, but am at a loss. help!

What audio input are you feeding on your 'Stereo'? If it's an older amplifier it may have a highly amplified input for a Magnetic Cartridge turntable. These inputs will create the symptom you describe.
 
Using Dishpro, not DPP. but that can be the case, is anyone else having this issue of long channel changes ?
 
Has anyone experienced an event where the 9242 seems to think it's recording two events, even though it only appears to be recording one. Only one appears in the schedule, yet I can't change channels without "canceling the current recording", as though both tuners are busy. The only way I've found to clear it is to go into System Info screen. It then warns me that it will need to cancel the current (phantom) recording, which it does. I've had this happen two or three times. Weird.

The slow channel changes on the 9242 on Dish Pro Plus is a known issue. I would expect it to be fixed in the next maintenance release in the next few months. Dish has had the same problem apparently.

At the moment, ExpressVu only offers legacy switches/lnbs and tests on that platform.

We understand that there are folks that are using Dish Pro Plus and we're planning to fix this issue.

If we find any work-arounds, I'll share it here so it can be used prior to the software release.
 
The HDMI cable that ships with the 9242 will be fine! You won't get a better picture with a more expensive cable.

Page 10-8 in your manual describes a method to scan for a working code. It's not guaranteed to work but try it.

try optical to AVR and component to TV.

I get real audio delay if i use HDMI to TV and then TV optical out to AVR.
A lot of TV's delay the video, thats worse than audio delay. Your brain is conditioned for audio delay, like someone talking at you from a distance.
Whats really hard to take is video delay, its not natural.
 
I noticed another timer for the same show will X it out because it thinks it's a duplicate even though the previous one had an X too and didn't record the event.
As for Bell calling the audio dropouts an HDMI issue... mine (and I'm sure others) are getting the dropouts through the optical toslink output to their sound system not HDMI audio.
 
I've gotten a 9242 to replace my rented 9200, switched all my cables from the 9200 to the 9242, but now every once in a while when I watch the second TV (on TV2), there's a constant clicking noise. That never happened to me with the 9200. It's not channel related (it even happens when the screen saver is on). It's not TV related, only that channel has it. Sometimes it's fine, but other time it clicks, it drives me nuts. Anyone ever have this problem? Anyone know what the problem may be? Does not happen on TV1.
