I imagine it's looking for the HD in program title. Not everything on the HD channels is actually HD, so it wouldn't base it on that.

Skipped by Priority would imply there was a timer conflict. It can't record more that two programs at once. Was it trying to record three or more events during the times it skipped an event you thought would be recorded?

The 9242 has HD out to 1 HD and SD to the second, both viewing different programs at the same time.

It is possible to output HD to 2 HDTV's for the HDMI and Component connections, however both HDTV's will have to watch the same shows.

Sound issues seem to be increasing, mostly at the beginning of shows.

Hi.
Just wondering if anyone has discovered a way to save video from PVR to computer files without running real-time to a dvd recorder via VidOut1. I'm afraid to plug into the USB port to experiment.

The delay appears to be on the 9242 only, have not heard about the 6141 be affected, or any of the older receivers.

I hav ea 9242 with panasonic 50 plasma hdmi attached it was working fine when first activated 2 weeks ago but I am an avid movie fan and have collected 50 or so movies and events anf it has about 6 hours of HD recording left. however the later recordings seem jerky in motion the players look like robotic motion. Is this due to overload of the disk I/O or fragmentation errors.
Hope someone can help
ps I am new to forums I hope I am posting in the right place and format.

I just had my 9242 installed Friday, went for rental rather than purchase seeing that people have had alot of complaints about this fairly new machine. I haven't had much problems with audio, though I am plugging my audio via Toslink optical cable directly to my television, which controls the signal between my XBOX360 and 9242. Keep in mind I'm using speakers that are primarily for desktop computers, but the Logitech Z-5500 are SICK!!! I didn't bother with a Home Theatre, simply because I didn't want to spend much more and also realized that my Logitech's hold up well compared to the Home Theatre in a Box systems. I have this all plugged into my Sony Bravia KDL46W3000 (Merry XMAS to Me!!!)

HD is by far superior, and SD, well.... I'm using a Sony, so my review on that is kind of biased since SD plays well with my Bravia. As for the 2nd SD line on the box, I have yet to buy a CRT TV to test it out.

I do have one question.... This is my very first PVR, and I noticed that the 9242 has USB inputs. Is there any way to take advantage of this feature? I thought it'd be really cool if I can back up all my Habs games onto a external hard drive or even on to DVD or DVD-DL.

I just bought the 9242 last week. I am happier with it then with my 9200.
I had problems with the HDMI on the 9200 and ended up using component video. No problems like that with the 9242, but I am not pleased that it can not handle 1080p ( what's the use of buying the newest if you can not use it). I am trying to find a way to to hook up the two tuners using one cable from the dish and a splitter. I can run the receiver with one cable but I lose the second tuner and its benefits. I find in general Expressvu hardware today is not as good as the Sony hardware I used 10 years ago with Direct TV. The time delay on changing channels was a lot less than my Expressvu and the dish did not have any signal problems until the signal got to 20% while my Expressvu has problems at anything under 50%.

USB is not yet activated.

A timeline for full use of this port on the 9242 has not yet been announced. Use of USB for .jpg files to give a slideshow should be very soon as per an interview with Pat Button of ExpressVu late last year.

The HD noise did not seem too bad in my office, but when in a quiet room it is quite load, not impressed with this noise level, lets hope it is just "bedding in".....lol

Just as a test since there are no reported audio problems with the analog outputs. This all seems to point to digital audio problems with this receiver.

My experience with DP / DPP is that it works much better than the Legacy.

I know it is not approved, hell I have been saying that for months on this very Forum but after changing my feeds to DP / DPP I am delighted, the 9200, has not had any out of sync audio, the 6100, runs so sweet, when before it was freezing etc.

The delay between channels on the 9242 is excessive, I have one hooked up in front of me, 5 to 7 seconds per change, not sure why, this is on Legacy right now but was on DP / DPP an hour ago, no change.

Receiver is NOT activated, just running it on the free channels. This is the second one hooked up, no difference.

Therefore from my own testing, DP / DPP is not the issue at all.

How bad is the issue? Doesn't sound pleasing for a $600 piece of equipment. Any fix in store for this?

Just a quick update on my 9242 rebooting issue...

Level 2 tech support finally admitted today that the replacement unit they had sent me is defective, AND was a refurbished model. That surprised me, as this replaced a BRAND new one I had purchased not a week before. Had I known this, I would have preferred to just return it to the store I bought it from and swapped it for a new one...

Anyhow, so they are now sending me a third 9242, and this time, he insisted it would be 'brand new'. I guess we'll see how this goes. The rebooting has been very frustrating... and it never fails... it reboots seemingly JUST at the end of a show, or right when there is a big play in a hockey game lol... /sigh

Cheers

Are you kidding? I didn't know rogers was that far behind. Can't you get a rogers pvr with an OTA tuner?
Can their pvr at least recond 2 shows while watching 2 shows on 2 differnet tv's? I didn't know I was that spoiled, we've been recording 3 programs and playing back another for almost 2 years now.

I doubt that you will harm anything by just looking or attempting to Copy files, just don't Delete or Cut from the HD.....

The number of times you reply with that single snippet of information, I think it might be time to ask about creating a sticky with it in.....lol
