Don't ask don't tell getting closer to being a footnote in history

I see. So because I have a different opinion than you do, I don't deserve something?

So in other words, if I personally think that it's just dandy to fuck other men in the ass, I don't deserve to be in the military?

and you obviously realize that this whole thing could have been avoided if we simply allowed homofags to serve openly, right? then we would have the best of both worlds.

you don't have to associate with people outside of work if you don't want to, and during work it simply ceases to be a problem, because the military does not put up with that shit.

no, but since the people I spend most time with and have the strongest friendships with are straight, my gut reaction to choose someone most familiar to me is going to be a straight person

How about the other side of the coin.....a gay soldier that is attracted to another soldier may be distracted because of the attraction he has.

So you would support a racially segregated military as well so that all the racist soldiers can be in a more comfortable emotional state?

If by having those conversations a gay soldier doesn't become a part of the team, then what are they doing there in the first place? I have a friend who is perfectly straight but never was part of the camaraderie in his unit and it was better for everyone when he left

well the person I was talking about is female- can a gay man hold down a conversation about pussy? nor would I even want to have a sex conversation with a gay person

there are things in life I find way more disgusting than gay sex, and there are plenty of people I have worked with who has exhibited those traits. in stressful situations, the only thing that matters is whos side you're on, and there is no reason to distrust a gay person simply because of their sexuality. that applies to both military and civilian life. that simple fact doesn't change just because there is gunfire involved.

What's best for society isn't necessarily best for the military, hence the provision for letting the military decide when and how to implement the changes...it's a big loophole imho.... and the sissies will still cry when they don't like how the policies and personnel changes are implemented...

Paraphrasing the great Bill Hicks...anyone dumb enough to serve in the military should be allowed to do so.

i honestly don't know how to feel about that issue, to be honest with you. I agree that women with smaller frames probably cant ruck as much weight as an average man, but push ups, sit ups, and run times shouldn't be affected.

If you think that's a significant distraction during combat duties, you're simply an idiot.

No problem at all. Sooner or later petty conquest conversations lead to lies, and lies lead to bigger lies, and sooner then later you are an Attorney General of a state who has lied about service in Viet Nam and combat duty who just won a primary election for a national office....

he admitted earlier on in this thread that he was all for a segregated military if it made the racists in the military more comfortable emotionally.
