So you think that managing soldiers' fighting ability by looking after their emotional state is not justification to make something illegal?

if you had the choice between a shitbag and a decent soldierin' queer and you picked the shitbag in a split second decision, you would be an awful team leader.

if both were equal, go ahead, choose who you like best.

I'm not sure what advantage there is into adding homosexuality into the mix of life as it currently exists in the military. Does it improve the warfighting ability of the military?

If I'm going into a firefight and can only pick one person, I'm not going to pick some random stranger. I'm going to pick one of the people I trained with and that I know is capable of doing the task.

it's not like you're just walking down the street by yourself with a bunch of strangers and a firefight breaks out.

and i'm equally sure than in any situation where you have a split second to choose between two people, whose skills you are unaware of, you'd be able to pick out the fag.

So... You are saying if this bill passes then soldiers will be able to openly serve in the military but will be charged with conduct unbecoming of an officer simply for being gay?

Link?

Or are you just being dumb?

Who says I want other people to toot my horn? I just have raunchy conversations sometimes

i kind of see his point if he is referring to choosing a person he works well with, as that can often make a huge difference. but still, if his decision is based off the persons sexuality instead of their skills, he is wrong.

most people, or most 'normal' people in middle America?

very different things

and most people will have emotional reactions if you express your tastes in food or music around them.

No, but you will be asked to leave, and depending on the circumstances your actions might be illegal.

Then if you really are, I'm surprised by your answer. I think gays would function better in the military as an officer, than as enlisted personnel.

He has gaydar dude. But not the full-on queer-to-queer gaydar, just the passive gaydar that straight people are allowed to have.

maybe not, but it is different, and there isn't any reason to shake it up that will improve the effectiveness of the military. just let things be.

no. my gut reaction would be the person I knew best and was closest to. which would be a straight person

you don't know that. like i said, for all you know the next great military tactician could be a flaming homosexual. by your way of thinking, he would be excluded from military service just because he makes a few bigots uncomfortable emotionally.
