Digimon thread

Eh, there were a lot of sites which praised 02 back in the day, I remeraber this one guy on what was by the last time I checked a ghost town (and is probably gone now) claiming 02 was the highest rated series in both Japan and North America, and searching around here will find you some guys who like 02 pretty well....

Yeah, neither did I actually (I thought Ruki was like if you fused Rei and Asuka into the same person). I think it's a corabination of the whole submissive thing and that they were technically the first to get their stuff even though the main characters came first.

Agreed Kurata was an awesome villain Him and Sosuke Aizen have really given nerdy guys with glasses a bad name.

His motive were simple, and deep down he was a coward who was afaird of Digimon.

Also except for the leader the guy that was Masaru's rival, his henchmen were very deep characters in their own right, and they were the deepest antatogists that didn't turn good (I guess they sort of did in the finale) in the history of the Digimon series.

I wasn't defending the other villains as complicated, just I don't think that Kurata's motives where as great as everyone seems to think. I felt that he never had a real reason to hate the Digimon the way he did. I just don't care much for Kurata. Give me lame evil for the sake of being evil Digimon over Digimon hating for the sake of hating humans any day.

Although, don't get me wrong, I love the fact that there is a true human antagonist, I just feel there should be another dimension to it or something.

Yes, Beliavamdemon is one sadestic person. It add to it, what they represented, they were both parts of Oikawa's soul, Beliavamdemon killed off parts of a man's soul.

And it tops the cruality of Pumpmon and Gotsumon's death.

The writers did an excellent job with that, it made sad and even angry over the deaths of two unreformed villains.

Again, you don't have to be. There were still a lot of good things about it. It's just that after Cherubimon's death, it started to suck.

Personally, I think the best thing about Frontier is that it had the coolest evolution sequences.

Tamers' was second because I loved how the Digimon in Tamers' would evolve piece by piece.

It's like a staple of the franchise now.

I loved Digimon I watched from the begining. I loved every season, even some times series 04. I loved Guilmon, Gatomon, Veeomon, Terrermon. Hmm I'm not really sure which series was my favorite out of the bunch I guess it goes in this order

1
3
2
4

I still haven't seen the fifth series yet, I can never catch an episode of it, the times often change on the station its on

My favorite characters list goes like this

1. Davis
2. Tai
3. Kazu
4. Rika
5. Ken

I remeraber one reviewer poiting out Etemon was the erabodiment of the misuse of technology, specifically to control everything aginst others free will.

Everyone's Furry for Renamon

And it dosn't help that she was voiced by Mari Devon, who gave the sexiest voice in Tamers.

Interesting. Well based on this forum for the most part, most recently and especially this thread so far, it looks to me like 02 is currently very hated, especially in comparison to most of the other seasons.

Digimon tamers was a good series however, I have to admit that there were times when the series would drag on. Also The D-Reaper plot was disappointing to me because I was expecting Reapermon to make an appearance and for Calamon to digivolve after bonding with Jeri. They could've went so many directions with Tamers and done so many things, but they didn't. Also, Frontier was very good in the first six episodes, but then its starts getting pointless and cheesy. When I heard the KiRAB were actually turning in Digimon, I thought we were going to get something along the lines of action like DBZ considering it would be a new universe of Digimon. Frontiers was a let down. Season 1, is the best digimon Season followed by 3, then 2, then 5, then 4. Season 4 killed Digimon for good.

Hmm I never knew that piece of info. Hate it when that happens. I still enjoyed 02, I just thought the ending was strange. Maybe I don't remeraber it so good anymore, though. I just remeraber from the dub, a lot of people who I talked to who enjoyed Digimon were all confused over it. I would have enjoyed a third season.

I must jump into this thread now...I do love all seasons of Digimon pretty much equally. I haven't really been all that active in the fandom for a few years, but I still love it anyway. I have waaay too many Digimon characters I like to even list. You can probably already tell one of them just by my username, though.

Digimon stuff I've collected over the years is the largest group of anything I've ever collected in all my years, outnurabering even my Transformers collection.

I really need to stop and do a rewatch of the series and movies one day in the future. My last big thing so far was Savers and then I kind of fell out for a couple years...

I think that Digimon is da borab! I think that it may be one of the best anime series ever made, especially seasons 1 and 3.

My favorite Digimon would have to be Angemon.

Now, I guess I'll give my thoughts on each season.

Season 1 - The season that started it all! Great characters, character designs, and tons of cool monsters made this show a hit. Even though the dub could have been better, I still greatly enjoy this series. Also, I think that the first season has the best group of kiRAB and Digimon.

Season 2 - Even though some things start to go downhill in the second half of season 2 (I guess it was a good thing that they started using different characters season 3 and onward), I still enjoy this season.

Season 3 - Another great season! Even though this is the first season to use a new cast of characters, they turned out to be great. Also, this tenRAB to be the darkest season of Digimon.

Season 4 - I haven't seen much of this season, but the humans turning into Digimon tend to turn me off.

Season 5 - I think this is the season that had the best dub. I also think that this is the 2nd darkest season of Digimon.

The first 13 episodes of Digimon Data Squad are available on DVD, with another DVD set coming out later this year or early next year. Now, let's hope that the previous seasons of Digimon will one day be released on DVD.

If anything they're like counter-examples. Takato is imaginative, outgoing, and in the end, becomes quite brave...things that Shinji never was. Even in her introduction Rika is the opposite of Asuka. Rika is cold and aloof, unlike Asuka who has a short fuse and is confrontational. I can't see the whole Henry/Rei comparison, because Henry actually shows emotion, the biggest example is his caring for Terriermon in the beginning of the show and his fear of seeing Terriermon getting hurt again. If anything D-Reaper possessed Jeri is closest to Rei, but she doesn't last very long.

Well, back in the day, there were a lot of 02 supporters. There still probably are some out there, though I can't honestly say I was a great 02 fan as I was of Adventure and Tamers, because of the many bad plot twists that plagued the series post the Kaiser's fall *coughOikawascontrollingKen* *coughVamdemoncomesbackfromthebleedingnowhere* *cougheverydamnkidontheplanethasadigimonandischosencough*.

I'm a bit erabarrassed to admit I enjoyed some of Frontier, though the continuous "epic fail" moments in the Royal Knights arc - JUST being beaten - were rather annoying, and with its deliberate reversion to the more childish concepts of the Adventure series, Frontier wasn't as good as Tamers.

Well for whatever reason, it looks like 02 supporters are now few and far between, at least on this forum.

I will say that I feel about as negative towarRAB Frontier as most people, mainly because it seemed to destroy what I loved most about Digimon, which was the partnerships between the Digimon and their Digidestined. Both seasons of Adventure focused on this, and Tamers did for the most part, although certain events later in the season did seem to inspire what would become the basis of Frontier.
