Digimon thread

Etemon ALREADY conquered part of server. Anywhere his Dark Network was he was in charge, that was his angle, a tyrant who had taken over the land of other Digimons. He probably knew about the Digidestined because there was that whole prophecy buisness (everybody knew Digidestined were coming to fight the darkness) and probably got warned when the sky over File Island lit up in a column of PURIFYING LIGHT OF DOOM that destroyed Devimon.

I also recal Etemon summoning a Tyranomon through his Network.

They made her the Child level so she could be around more to whet the fantasies of her furry fans

Revenge of Diaboromon and X-Evolution have always been my favorite of the movies.

Annnnd figured I would ask since I've never seen a proper answer to this, does anyone know why the Adventure/02 movies had such a radically different animation style compared to the series and why it wasn't carried on with the other movies?

Mine goes Tamers, Adventure, Frontier, 02, Savers. Tamers is one of my favorite anime, Adventure is still pretty good too. 02 was just one big waste of potential after another. Plus, when I think about it, I never really liked the new characters, they should have just stayed with the original team.

I'm sorry but I just doubled over in laughter reading this post

(I wonder what the meeting was that said "Hey you know what won't be creepy at all? Myotismon growing big and talking through a monster crotch!")

Well as the ultimate antagonist of the Adventure series, Vamdemon/Myotismon better have some nifty tricks. That title should belong to Daemon, but he decided to give up on that whole evil thing and start making computer software.

I like Tamers. After the cliche kiRAB anime style of the first two seasons, it shifted things to be more realistic and gripping. Savers isn't bad but it never really grabbed me. Tamers had this natural evolution of kiRAB discovering there was this actual Digital World that was starting to leak over into their world and how this meshed with their already troubled lives. It's one of the very few Evangelion inspired shows that got why that show was successful.

Yeah, after Disney got Digimon about halfway through Tamers and was no longer able to use Shuki Levi's score, Tzur composed the remainder of the music for the series, as well as Frontier and dub movies 4-7 years later.

I forget the name of the Data Squad composer, but I liked him too.

The internet has never been the same.

I think 02 gets more hate than it deserves. I know I'm in the minority but, with exceptions, I really liked the series.

Like I've said before I am watching Tamers a second time and I just finished going through 34.

Major Spoiler:
This is one of the deepest episodes in Digimon ever. Impmon fuel with power takes out Leomon leaving Jeri shocked and sad making Guilmon(Growlmon) and Takato enraged. Growlmon instantly digivolving and still getting beat by Beelzamon resulting in Takato, blinded by rage, forcing him to digivolve to mega which turns WarGrowlmon into a terrifying monster(Megidramon).

I just love how everything in that scene was done and really had chocked up a bit toward the end.

Digimon Tamers just kicks ass!

02 over-despised? If anything, 02 is overrated, the Kaiser arc was very well written, but the series seriously tanked after episode 38, I enjoyed the Kaiser's arc (even with the plothole of why Ken, a nice guy, never feels any regret for the sort of "games" he "plays") it still gets a lot more praise online than it deserves.

That's because the movie had a different director from the TV seris. Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) directed the Digimon movies for the first two seasons starting with Digimon Adventure, Our War Game, Hurricane Touchdown, and Revenge of Diaboromon he also directed episode 21 of the original Digimon.

My 3 cents on Digimon:

I love Digimon Adventure/02. They were both pretty good, and somehow they managed to fulfill character development (Something Pokemon doesn't do very well). Am I the only one who loved 02 even after Ken turned native? I mean a few episodes later we get BlackWarGreymon, who is pretty much my favorite emo anime charcter ever.

Digimon Tamers is indisputably the best monster battle anime around. It had your run of the mill "normal kid's dreams come true" story that became so much more. As it's already been said the series was really dark, but kept the childhood dream feeling of the show in place. Plus, I love that the Digimon's origin story is the evolution of a program developed in the 70's (Right, 70's?).

Favorite Digimon Tamers Digimon: Beelzemon

Digimon Frontier wasn't that great. I watched all of Frontier and the opinions that came out of it from me are: twin brother plot twist was great, villains were great, characters were lame, I hated the Hybrid Evolution thing at first, but it grew on me, and the plot was boring. It didn't help that I had to watch that series at 5:00 in the morning.

Favorite Digimon Frontier Digimon: Duskmon

I made it halfway through Digimon Savers/Data Squad and didn't think it was worth finishing. Also, what's up with people and the villain's "motive" in this series. What, he was racist against Digimon, that was about it, lame. I liked the fact that the lead character's dad worked for an exploration force to the Digital World, that the main character punched the opposing Digimon, and I'm sure that there's some little stuff too. The series's characters didn't do it for me and what was up with all the Digi-evolution's being weird and taken out of the video games or something?

Favorite Digimon Savers/Data Squad Digimon: What was that owl Digimon's name?

Oh here's where this thread is.

So did anyone else realize that Takato, Jian and Ruki are comparable to Shinji, Rei and Asuka respectively?

I loved Tamers, it was my second favorite Digimon series second only to Adventure, at the same time I can see why it did bad in Japan since the audiences watching would have been more used to the childish concepts of the first two Digimon series. It's kinda funny that Frontier reverted back to the Adventure-esque atmosphere in an attempt to bring back old fans, since (...at least I'm inclined to believe), those who enjoyed Tamers' mature concepts were put off. I'll never understand who had the idea of the Spirit things - maybe they thought audiences were sick of losing the partners?

(If you can't tell, I'm kinda erabarrassed to admit I enjoyed some of Frontier)

That said, yeah, I can't believe we're still not getting subbed episodes on our North American versions - is Toei refusing?

Of course, with Disney having the series now, that's just a dream. >:O

With that in mind, am I the only one who notices that Leomon, in some form or another, almost always dies?

And what exactly is Myotismon's motive?

"I'M EVIL SO I SHALL CONQUER BOTH WORLRAB."

The same goes for the Dark Masters, Devimon, Etemon, and everyone who affects the plot besides Oikawa, and then he enRAB up not being the REAL bad guy.

Kurata was evil for a reason, and showed that deplorable acts don't come from some abstract floating dark of darkness, it comes from selfish and angry people who make the wrong choices. That's more real, and more interesting.
