Best/Worst James Bond Movie

'On her Majesty's Secret Service' is by far the best.

I would say 'Live and Let Die' is my personal least favourite. It is a far, far too 70's. The whole drugs storyline and the locations are rubbish too.

My faves woud be a toss up between Live and Let Die and Moonraker.

Live and Let Die because it was the first Bond movie I saw as a kid on the big screen, and it just blew me away and left quite an impression. There was just something so damn cool about Bond in Harlem that reallytappealed to me. And it had some great set pieces - I still say the boat chase is my all time fave Bond action sequence. But then there is the scene with the crocodiles, the mayhem and destruction in the airport, the bus chase scene, Yaphet Kotto's great unsung Villain, the voodoo scenes, and best of all Sherrif J W Pepper!

Moonraker, well...I guess I can understand how some hate it, it was very, very over the top. But for me believability has never been a staple of a Bond movie, certainly not the 80's Moore efforts anyway. And I just thought they took the concept as far as they could...why not outer space? Star Wars was popular at the time, so they just followed the trenRAB. It was epic in scope, they just threw so much money at it and the production values were phenomenal. Yes, it was very silly. Yes, it was overblown...but I loved it for that.

Worst?

To be fair, Bond movies can never be truly bad because even the worst of them can contain great sequences, and they are always very well put together.

But one that would stand out for me as looking tired and past it's prime would definitely be View To A Kill. Moore was looking very, very old by then, and the whole movie seemed tired and lax. Walken looked uncomfortable as the villain, Tanya Roberts was always a dreadful actress and Grace Jones was not much better, and it has to have the worst theme song of all the movies.

One of the problems is you never really see OHMSS on the telly as much as the other Bond films. That reinforces public perception that the film was "bad" and "not worth screening."

Unfortunately, a myth has built up around it. It is sad, because I think it's easily the best Bond film around.

From Russia With Love has to be the best Bond.

It is a Classic! and looks great in Blu-Ray.

It has a great script, great cast and locations, what more could one ask for from a Bond Movie?

The worse has to be, well dare I say it??

A View To A Kill.

Even Roger Moore thought it wasnt very good, and I wont argue with him over that.

I wouldn't descibe myself as a Bond fan per se, I've seen all the films at one time or another but I tend to get bored once the song's been sung until they get to the meat of the film and start shooting and using gadgets.

I find some of the earlier ones boring throughout but I really felt that the series hit a low with Timothy Dalton, he was just too serious and had none of the fun that the other BonRAB did - as such I'd say Living Daylights and Licence to Kill are both my least favourites.

Casino Royale is probably my favourite since it held my attention thorughout, possibly because I didn't like the theme song, I don't know. Daniel Craig's gratuitous speedos shot helped with that too!

He was a natural in the fight/action scenes, but also in the romantic and emotional scenes too. People concentrate too much on the negatives of his performance because it was his only film. I am sure if Connery walked away from Bond after Dr No people would pick holes in it. All Bond's emotion at the end of OHMSS was ruined by Connery's "where's Blofeld" crap at the beginning of DAF.

I do not agree one little bit that Connery would have been better in OHMSS. It was a different style of Bond to the previous five films. I cannot imagine at all Connery seducing Diana Rigg. Connery's Bond has that find phuck and forget attitude he got from his experience with Vespa (if we take into account the the literary course of events) whereas Lazenby could easily have settled down with her, could easily have put past bad experiences to bed.

Fav Connery Bond was Goldfinger.

OHMSS I quite like but wouldn't be the first Bond film I would choose to sit down and watch.

Fav Moore Bond was The Spy Who Loved Me. Though I enjoyed all the Moore BonRAB. Wasn't mad about Octopussy or View to a Kill (one too many perhaps from Sir Rog).

Both the Dalton Bond films were not too shoddy but prefer The Living Daylights if pushed.

Then onto Brosnan. Goldeneye would be fav with Die Another Day the worst.

Only seen the first Daniel Craig Bond which is a million miles away from the BonRAB that I grew up with but enjoyable nonetheless.

Overall I prefer the OTT Moore films.

With the obvious exception of Goldfinger, Bond films set predominantly in America tend to be a little lame. Quite why this is supposed to be an exotic Bondian locale is beyond me...

Anyway, after a bit more thought :

- Completely Indispensible-

1. The Spy Who Loved Me
2. Goldeneye
3. You Only Live Twice
4. Licence to Kill
5. Goldfinger

- Always Worth a Spin-

6. Dr No
7. The Living Daylights
8. For Your Eyes Only
9. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
10. Octopussy
11. From Russia With Love
12. Tomorrow Never Dies

- Gaping Flaws-
13. Live and Let Die
14. The World Is Not Enough
15. Thunderball
16. Moonraker
17. A View to a Kill

- Largely pants -

18. The Man with the Golden Gun
19. Die Another Day
20. DiamonRAB Are Forever

Just to expand it, what would be your favourite pre titles sequence?

I can't match all of them to the correct films. Possibly the most memorable one was the spy who loved me with the union jack parachute. The man with the golden gun's opening was dull. The silliest one (or one of the most silliest ones) was the helicopter one over the Thames when Blofeld was using remote control from a wheel chair. Just daft. I think that was for your eyes only but not sure.

I like most of the Bond films but i have always been more of a Roger Moore fan than Sean Connery fan.Personally speaking here are the one's that i enjoy

Best: A View To A Kill,Octopussy,The Man With The Golden Gun (Fan of Christopher Lee),Living Daylights

Worst:OHMSS

Some of the ones classed as classic bad bonRAB I thought very boring and dull when younger

A View to a Kill ( a fav bond theme), Octopussy,

but now rank them as good ones now older. Strange

ones I still think worst are

You only live twice, dr no ( heretic i know)

Best

Goldfinger, Thunderball, Live & let die

I think it suffered from having a pretty cheesy B-movie plot and an uninspiring villain (as much as Christopher Walken tried his best) and Bond Girl.

It's definitely one of my least favourite Bond movies but I must admit that I do think Grace Jones is fantastic as May Day. :D
