Best/Worst James Bond Movie

Lets face it. A View To A kill had a really big cast at the time. Christopher Walken, former Angel tanya Roberts, glamour girl of the time Fional Fullerton, Grace Jones, Patrick Macnee doing a Steed impression so it was like Bond meets steed and you even got The Chinese Detective as well! Plus a theme from the biggest boyband of the time.

best: The Spy Who Loved Me

i grew up in the Moore era, so even his hammy bond is still my favourite. TSWLM has everything, the "formula", the superb opening ski sequence (with cool soundtrack) the Lotus and the helicopter chase, gorgeous Bond girls, great baddie with superb base, dastardly plan and the best ever henchman in Jaws. absolutely stellar. who cares that it was a rip-off of You Only Live Twice?

For Your Eyes Only runs a close second for me

worst: Die Another Day - invisible car and madonna 'nuff said

Until Mike Myers ruined the concept, I always though Donald Pleasance's Blofeld, although Goldfinger may just squeak to the top with this:-

JB - "Do you expect me to talk"
GF - "No Mr Bond, I expect you to die"

There is a considerable divergence of opinion here on the best and worst. It looks like many think that it is better if you have read all the books and watched all the movies. I have watched all the movies and read some of the books. I'm not sure if my opinion counts.

It seems that Goldfinger and From Russia With Love are generally in the best category but it's hard to get agreement on the worst. I always thought the later Roger Moore work was weak. A View to a Kill would be my choice for the worst. And the one I have always liked watching is You Only Live Twice.

It's probably not fair to rate Dr No as worst because without it there wouldn't have been any others. The same might be said for Sean Connery. I guess the series might not have been a success without him.
