I hope the blue jays don't get their own network. That would just mean we would have to pay extra for something we're already getting and paying for.

Wasn't Sportnet suppose to get another National Channel to go with there 4 regional channels?

Unless you download the torrent the next day, Chelsea lately is NOT available in Canada.

I have been watching the plans to re-brand Drive-in classics to W movies and Sex tv to Sundance Channel.

I don't mind the SexTV change as this channel has been going down hill for the last year or so, but I would rather have Movieola be the channel replaced by W movies than Drive-in Classics. I haven't watched Movieola for about three years -- right after they stopped showing the old Chaplin, Keaton and other silent shorts, chapters of movie serials and vintage cartoons. Drive-in did, sometimes, show an interesting movie. Not so much in the past year or so, but I was hoping for a change.

Though someone did mention that they said something about 20 new HD channels on Feb 1, so for the fun of it let's sepculate on what they could be. Now it could either just be 20 channels (10 SD/10 HD) for Olympic coverage, but lets see what else it could be. Someone mentioned CJOH-DT, I highly doubt that would be added seeing as how Bell doesn't even carry the channel full time in SD. Maybe Bell Globemedia/CTV are going to launch HD stations of their specialty channels on Feb 1, which would be added to Bell. This would include OLNHD which OLD has some Olympics on this year, so it makes some sense. Maybe Omni1 and Omni2 HD would launch as they also have Olympics on.

Other Bell owned stations, Comedy Network, Space, MuchMusic, MuchMore, MTV, Discovery Channel, CTV News Channel, Bravo, BNN, all of which I believe have HD licenses. Add to that probably CBC News Network and so far I have found 12 HD channels. Add into that Speed HD and History HD and we are up to 14. Could we see these channels added. This will fill up some of the Specialty HD and News and Learning HD slots.

Again here is the list that I have come up with. Again this is pure speculation:

Omni1 HD
Omni2 HD
OLN HD
Comedy HD
Space HD
MuchMusic HD
MuchMore HD
MTV HD
Discovery HD - actual HD version of Discovery SD
CTV News HD
Bravo HD
BNN HD

History HD
Speed HD
Spike HD???

And maybe some fibre HD versions of local CTV owned channels? Thoughts?

so to get to the point you need to get The best of the best at 60$+the basic (15$if you have bundle or 25$ if you are not in the bundle) and some add on.

I really wouldn't be surprised if they added Le Canal Nouvelles/CTV News Channel HD next. That'll push more viewers into watching another Bell Globemedia owned channel. Of course, nevermind the fact that CBC Newsworld HD has been out for a very long time now, also nevermind the fact that publicly owned channels are generally cheaper to carry than privately owned channels. (but who knows in this case)

Staying on the topic of new news channels, I speculate we are getting very close to finally getting Al Jazeera English HD. It's been rumored in multiple articles that AlJaz has reached agreements with all major distributors following its CRTC approval and expected to be up this month or the next. I'm getting tired of having to watch this on my iPhone and laptop, but that's the length one has to go to have an alternative to viewing our Canadian turn on the news...aka the "Happy News"! No offense CBC.

Finally, Bell needs to work on the HD Premium Movies for the West. I don't know who can justify having only ONE HD Movie Channel (MCHD) specifically for the West vs. FOUR HD movie channels (TMNHD, MExcessHD, MFunHD, MPixHD) specifically for the East. Not to mention the TMN Online feature, specifically for the East as well. The SuperChannels and HBO-Canada don't count as they are equally available to both sides of the country.

I understand that CBC has just shelved their plans for a sports channel at this time. I guess the ad was laid out before this decision was made known. Interesting though because it means that CBC must have been very close to begin broadcasting for Bell to include it in their ad.

Actually it's more about preserving Canadian jobs and culture. Something I doubt many people can complain about. After all, you do like 'your' job don't you?

Look at it this way. This web site only exists because we like to discuss (or more like complain about) the Cable/Satellite industry (amongst other things) from a Canadian point of view. That's why it's digitalhome.ca. If this industry didn't exist then chances are this web site wouldn't exist either because we would be going to the myriad of other sites that already cover the American industry. Sites that are run by people south of the boarder. That's just a small example of the effects of relying on the US to provide our entertainment, our culture, but I think you get my drift.

As much as I dislike & want to boycott the $3 Mini News Packs put forward by Bell, I could not turn down Al Jazeera when it became live.

Been watching it for a week, and WOW did I ever discover the bias perspective I had on the rest of the world. I am not a Liberal nor Conservative, not a "Tree-Hugger"`nor "Pro Oilsands", not Anti-Semetic nor Anti-Islam; I don`t always agree with Western or Eastern policies. With all that in mind I finally found the channel that spoke my mind, for ALL sides of the story. As well, the documentaries they air in between newscasts are unparalleled, truly compelling. All round, definitely more comprehensive than ANY of the other news channel that call themselves `international`:

BBC: Still the British/West perspective.
CNNi: The American "Beginners Guide" to understanding the world. (no offence)
CBC: The "Happy News" (Interesting, rather than informative news).

Highly recommended, regardless of how it is packaged. It is available to over 100M people in over 100 countries, I think Bell loves to use the word International at its own will, in order to justify extra charges. And BBC isn't now?

But see for yourself, don't take my word.

How come there is no aquarium channel in SD. I am sure there would be a lot of cats who would love to watch it.

It's SexTV that becomes W Movies and Drive-In Classics that will become Sundance Channel.

Speezer, CTV Montreal does not transmit in HD yet. Even if they did, why would you want another CTV HD East channel that shows identical programming to CTV HD Toronto 95% of the time? Talk about a waste of HD space.

BellTV is pushing the limits of its capacity as it is... Adding CTV Montreal HD would be a big big mistake.

Just watched the Sweden-Swiss Women's Hockey Game. Sounds of the sticks, pucks and the crowd were louder and clearer than on TSN which was also showing the game. Darned if I didn't feel as if I were in the rink! Terrific PQ and AQ.

I saw the Jays channel as well and wondered what this was for?
Is it possible that if this is kinda like the nhl network, nfl network and Raptors tv that they will start simulcasting games from ESPN and MLB TV?

Did they announce those changes on the bill? I remember people complaining because it wasn't done automatically.

My first guess is because it's a change in the movie pack, it will come off for everybody, and thus should be available in Family 1 for everybody, but I could be wrong (has happened once or twice before).

Record profits?
Bell TV has never made money.

You are contradicting yourself , first you are saying that I am wrong , then you are saying that in order to pick the channels you want , you have to buy at least the same amount of channels that you may not want , to comply with CRTS rules.

okay. i will like to know why we have more tsc channels. we have one on 113 (SHOP),another at 286 (SHOP2), another one at 598(SHOP), another at 614 (SHOP). When i press enter it is the shopping channels. Is it to promote their anniversary? Because the original channel is on channel 660. Do we need more of the shopping channel?
