Bell TV 2010 New Channels discussion

Unless they plan on adding all the CTV locals in HD from a direct to Bell fiber feed (no OTA station) then I don't see this possible. Are there even that many HD channels in Canada not broadcasting. I know there are a bunch of SD channels but none have HD services, unless that is when all the Bell owned channels are launching in HD. Would make sense, OLN is suppose to have some Olympic coverage and OLNHD for the Olympics? Or maybe this is Bell's special Olympic channels? Either way, if they add 100 HD channels can you imagine the quality. Half of what we get now, that frightens me. SD will look better if that's the case. My OTA SD channels almost look better then HD now.

Yea, been there since they added TCM.

It is amazing how bad CNN America is when you compare it to CNN International. You would think that CNN America would take advantage of some of the stories from CNN Int. since CNN Int. is not widely available in the US. Instead they repeat the same story over and over all day. I really don't understand...... To be honest I have not watched CNN America except for Fareed Zakaria since CNN Int. has been added.

Yeah, I suppose you're right, but it seems to be a never-ending arguement. Bell doesn't help by it's slow pace of new channel introduction.

International News 2 that's all bell needs more packages that subscribers have to pay extra for. I get all the News I need from the digital standard package. I dumped News 1 months ago and I don't miss it.

Aquarium channel still working for me! Still get to watch the blue striped fish dive bomb the center plant until it gets bored - and then starts to do it again!

Hey guys...far be it for me to lecture anyone for going off topic...but I do think we are way off topic on this one.

I believe this thread is for the discussion of new channels.

With that said...I am really disappointed that Bell has not added Speed-HD for the upcoming NASCAR All-Star weekend...I thought for sure this year.

I'm beginning to feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the ball every Fall

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but how come History Television HD is available on Rogers (and Shaw I believe) but not Bell TV? Surely they would want to have one of the most popular specialty channels in their HD line-up. We're certainly seeing plenty of promos for it on the SD version.

I see some off air channels, 995-999 have been added as OLYH1-5(Olympic coverage I would assume).

5 Olympic HD channels will be added to Bell for the Olympics. These will be clean feeds of the events with no commercials or announcers.

It's not a slow pace for the sake of a slow pace. Bell simply doesn't have the resources to add more HD channels without sacrificing picture quality. Since HD is all about PQ and not much else why would anyone want that?

Regarding Youpa... Some are saying that it will not available at Bell.
Is this true? I know Shaw is offering it... but no news for the other providers.

I think Quebecor (that own Yoopa) want to keep this as a plus value for their offering.....
