Bad anime : The animation, the writing, and just plain out bad.

Well, now hang on a second here.

I'll give you an example here.... Glass Fleet.

By in large, baring a few redeeming qualities... Total crap, and if it was an intentional parody of Space Opera then, well, the joke's on everyone... However, as someone who likes to provide thier own running commentary to the ridiculousness happening on screen like a one man MST3K crew, it's the perfect blend of ass retarded characters, silly, unintentionally hilarious writing and impossible physics to keep someone like me plenty amused.

I was beginning to think that I was the only person who felt this way. I rented the first season and didn't even finish it. I also though Yu Yu Hakusho got pretty boring toward the end of the first season.

Thank god someone else knows about these. I had to watch these during an all-night bad anime endurance test at the Anime USA convention last year. They are laughably bad. There's also Defenders of Space, Raiders of Galaxy... pretty much anything with the name Joseph Lai attached to it is a miserable excuse for anime. Plus it contains some of the most hilarious single frames ever, like the guy getting the robot fist and this little gem:

I liked the dude, I thought he was cool and he had some funny lines. If the show was all about him, I'd probably like it. But the girl was so durab. She said and did the durabest things. She was painfully naive and obnoxiously stupid. I know I was supposed to think she was cute, but I just thought she was annoying.

Plus I watched the dub and Luci Christian's baby-talk little girl voice is like nails on a chalk-board for me. I watched about 8 episodes before finally calling it quits.

Magus, that's a personal opinion on tackling a genre that isn't your forte. If you said "Evangelion has overflanderizing depressed characters with no plot, recycled animation up the wazoo, and was a C-grade work," that would be more on the topic.

Instead, you don't like NGE because you don't like psychological/mecha.

Hmm. Let me try to explain what I mean.

I LOVE 'Hercules: The Legendary Journey.'
It's a ridiculous show, but it is entertaining.

The later episodes ended up becoming a parody/wacky comedy, but the early episodes were treated seriously.
And wouldn't you know it, I liked the early episodes better.
Not because I found them funny, but because... well... they were just entertaining.
I can't tell you why I found it entertaining, I just did.

But I certainly wouldn't call that show good!

I didn't find Eureka Seven entertaining, save for one episode (nuraber 7, I think) and a couple of moments here and there.
But I can understand someone finding it entertaining, and I respect that.
Tastes are subjective.

But I will argue that while tastes are subjective, art isn't necessarily subjective.

You can look at a painting which was done magnificently by a master and say, "meh."
You can then look at another painting, obviously an artistic inferior, yet like it better.

Why?
You don't know why. Nobody does.

But even though you like the inferior better than the master, it is still not a better painting as far as art is concerned.

I was going to tell to watch out because there's a lot of fans that have STRONG opinions about that show.
I'm trying my best to not post my own opinion about Naruto and bleach. I just don't like being bash by fans. You know, 1 vs 100. Not a fun fight.

And anyways I don't like that show too.

What people like is relative.

I say that quality wise, Eureka 7 is one of the worst anime I've ever seen, but at least this thread hasn't called me a monster for saying so.

XXXholic, overall, is not a bad anime EXCEPT for the animation. Turning crowRAB into to blank white stick figures so you don't have to draw them? everyone's arms and legs being as long as and being able to move like noodles? absolutly no sense of proportion (there are scenes where the people sitting in the room look taller than the rooms... an objects are out of whack too). And Mokona's dub voice is worse than nails on a chalkboard.

But as for so bad its hilarious, I'll go with Virus Buster Serge. I bought the DVRAB for a dollar each at NewburyComics. I enjoy watching it as one would enjoy a Mst3k movie.

For so bad its bad.... hmm I'll have to think about that. Those usually don't see the light of day outside articles online and anime convetion panels poking fun at them.

It's still not a case of the anime itself was bad by usual standarRAB, it's you not liking the later parts of depression.

I personally think it's a hilarious show.

I'm of the opposite opinion on that. I feel that the 1st season started out boring and that the series only truly picked up about half-way into the Dark Tournament arc. Also, the Chapter Black arc comes much later in the series, but its honestly what makes the series as great as it is, being that its probably my favorite anime arc out of any shounen series that I have ever seen.

As for the worst anime that I have ever seen, that's a pretty tough call to make, since I've seen quite a few ones which are so bad that they want to make me gag. However, as far as being the "ultimate worst" series, in terms of having bad animation, voice acting, music, story, characters, and everything, I'm not really sure what would fit the bill for me, since I'm not so sure that I've actually seen an anime that's bad in every single respect, but instead I have seen anime that may have been of average, or even good production quality, but which just had stories and/or characters that I just absolutely hated.

Agree 100% with the SEED Destiny murabo jurabo. Also agree about Valkyria Chronicles. I was *so* disappointed in that. I've had to force myself to watch, honestly. I just hope they at least get the ending somewhat right, but I feel like they won't have enough time. I must see
Welkin and Alicia's kid, Isara
D:

Conversely, it's one of the better ones I've seen. It has its flaws, yes, but I'm not seeing the same ones you are. There is no perfect series that can please everyone. Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Protectors of Universe (no, there's not a word missing in there) and Space Thunder KiRAB are my favourite 'bad' anime titles. They're so much fun to watch.

Protectors of Universe features the worst dubbing imaginable, with no emotion, with all the voices seemingly done by two or three guys with thick Asian accents and a single British woman. So all the male characters seem to be speaking American English as a second language, and all the girls have British accents. The storyline and characters are so hilariously derivative, I don't know where to begin. And the animation is unbelievably bad-- some memorable glitches include a kid looking out the window of a space ship, with his reflection showing a completely different person (this is never mentioned or explained), and a shot used multiple times of a guy in a cockpit getting punched by a giant robot fist.

Space Thunder KiRAB features slightly better dubbing, but much worse continuity. The nuraber of the title characters alternates between three and five, and their costumes and voices change for no discernable reason in each scene. Characters and plot points are introduced and then forgotten or changed ten seconRAB later. TowarRAB the end of it, the story falls apart completely, and it turns into a very explicit ripoff of Tron.

These are without a doubt the worst anime productions I've ever seen. As such, I highly recommend watching them.

Man, another anime I gotten a long time ago "Mouse". Its the same guy that made a manga series called "Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi", which I kinda like.

Mouse felt like a big rip-off from Lupin III. A guy that is a master thief, stilling from the rich. And he have 3 lovely ladys that are madly in love with him.

Its not a really good anime. A lot of ladys trying to do sexual things to the main character. The show is very stander in my opinion.
