I know rock n roll is supposed to be "dangerous" and even stupid but **** like that just makes concerts an unpleasant and horrific experience.
 
what did grunge actually give the world other than those first banRAB?
puddle of mud? staind? nu metal, rap-rock?

I've always harbored some modicum of disdain for this shite. But I've come to recognize that it isn't just America that's responsible for crappy genres. If you hate grunge and alternative music, imagine my perception of Britpop. It was awful. Just awful. I don't know how it got popular, I don't know how it became critically reviewed, but it's nothing more than a stain on the backside of the nineties.
 
I hate Muse, Ive been meaning to listen to Porcupine Tree cos everyone here loves them. I was originally put off because their album covers looked like they were nu-metal.

Are they that band who i saw you scrobbling on Last FM who did Stones covers? I'm really curious now.

Also something that pisses me off a bit: Someone always has to mention The Black Keys everytime someones talking about the Stripes. They're not even THAT similar, let alone anywhere as good!

right. but, if you weren't in a relatively urban area (or on its outskirts) you wouldn't have access to that college station. can't order what you don't know exists, and it's not like colurabia house carried every label out there.

the small stores were great but they also had to turn a profit so they couldn't really just fill their shelves with whatever they thought was good instead of what they knew would sell, again it depenRAB on the area.

the 80s weren't a total wasteland but i'm sure you'll agree where you lived played a far more significant factor in what you were able to hear than it does now.
