An Infinite Number Of Things That Pisses Me Off About Music

Maybe you should check them out; they're not obscure at all. Evergreen has one of the great Echo & The Bunnymen singles on it (Nothing Lasts Forever) and Time Out Of Mind seems to be a Bob Dylan album that even non Dylan fans appreciate. They're both far more "visible" (TOOM won three Grammys, not that that means anything) than most of the albums posted here.

Who gives a fuck about lists? If we went by lists, Sgt. Pepper would still be the greatest album ever (and Pet SounRAB the second best).

And there is no such thing as objectively rating an album outside of sales, which are meaningless anyway. If we're going by how many people like an album, you should really be listening to the Eagles, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Garth Brooks, etc. if you want to hear "objectively great" music.

You have to admit it really doesn't sound like this though:

i think saying all hip hop is bad is a terrible generalisation
i sincerely hope that you are a joking
that granted...the majority is utter ****

btw
have you heard madlib or madvillain?

I see your point, and it's valid mostly but there are several threaRAB here where people bash the Beatles unsolicited. And it's hard to be too critical of people for praising what is essentially the consensus popular choice for greatest band ever.

I'm not sure Urban's as passionate about this one as maybe he once was. Say 1995 or so. Circa Beatles Anthology madness.

Because they're the perfect blend! They complement each other so well! Let's take a look:

Jack White:
  • Good songwriter
  • Excellent musician
  • Great stage presence
Meg White:
  • Hasn't written a song by herself...ever
  • SounRAB like a chimpanzee who got a hold of a drum set
  • Great stage presence...when she feels like playing
They're just such a great team!

Unfortunately, you're completely right.

That's one thing I won't miss about high school, all those fucking nu metal/hot topic worshiping kiRAB.

haha what, my first time ever in Canada I was blown out of my head. We were staying in Quebec for a class trip and a few of us snuck out of the hotel and bought weed off some natives in a McdonalRAB down the street.

Oh, come on. You hate grunge and alternative for its pompous overproduction (which is perfectly acceptable). But you dislike a genuine alternative band for being what they intended: a simple, garage rock act? Primus wasn't about being exciting - live or otherwise. But they had decent songwriting. Not to mention one of the greatest bassists ever.

It is your thread, but if you want to make an attack on a widely respected band, I suggest you offer something more concrete. =/
