8/3 is a big day for Cricket

I remeraber reading somewhere that cricket is already testing LTE devices and a source told they are testing 4g in a couple markets.

Now on to August 3rd. New flat rate plans $35 $45 and $60 I'm not sure what they are going to include and it's going to $55 a month for the android plan. No more late/reinstatment fees either. Also, I know this isn't the right forum but... Kyocera Zio coming out in the next 2 weeks, one problom though is the inventory of the phones, Cricket isnt keeping much inventory right now so if you find the Zio, you better pick it up quick, they aren't expecting to fix the inventory issue till late this year. I guess they'll be keeping that promo where if you flash a hanRABet you'll get a month free.

T-Mobile is interesting, but I think it costs too much at $59.99/month (plus tax, right?). Then, the cost of the phone on top of that. It doesn't even have unlimited talk at that rate either.

Now, about Cricket launching other phones.. It was leaked a while back: http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/03/30/crickets-2010-device-lineup-leaked/

I think the Zio and the Curve are the most exciting right now. MetroPCS is coming out with a 4G phone soon, but I don't know if that's in your area or not.

Bewildered a Live Chat agent with the knowledge I gained reading this thread, and found out that the $45 plan will be like the current $40 plan but better. "You get a lot with that plan. Navigation and mobile email. More I think. It's not totally official yet." He also confirmed that there will be no more first month free and no activation.

I also learned that if you don't live in a native Cricket market (for example you drive to the nearest retailer to activate but never spend time there) they will likely kick you off after a few months. "When your not in a cricket market you are not on our towers. We rent towers from different cell phone providers. They charge us when people use them. It would be pretty easy to see that you are living [in an unsupported market] after a few months." Sorry if this is already known... I haven't followed Cricket on HoFo very much but am considering trying it until they give me the boot.

Are you sure you read about Cricket and not MetroPCS? MetroPCS has been testing 4G and is going to launch.. You sure it was Cricket?

I sure they could, but they will try to sell as many curves as possible, that is why the are probably blocking flash phones from the blackberry plan, going to a dealer later today and see what they say.

Guess I haven't been with cricket that long as I don't ever remeraber them having smart phones.

I didn't hear about the Navigation. The Mobile Email is already on the $40/month plan in my market, but I guess not in all markets yet.

It's nice to hear that they're going to kick off people that don't live in a Cricket market but are using Cricket's service. I think those people are just scamming Cricket. It's not right.

Right now there are test markets for Cricket where the customer pays for the first month of service. The phone prices dropped significantly to oRABet this cost to the consumer. There are NO activation or reativation fees in these markets either...

I don't think I'm going to get it right away, but I'm not sure. I understand that there is an inventory problem and it might take a while for that to get resolved. If it sells out right away, that would definitely means I'm staying with my current phone for a while, which might be a good thing. It'll force me to wait, and will give me more time to think. :)

I really doubt they'll kick people off, especially if they are already signed onto Cricket and the changes havent been made, I think people can take legal actions since it isn't on the current terms and conditions. Just like the late/reinstatment fees, a couple people went to go complain to their corporate stores about it and they dont have to pay them since they signed onto cricket before they took effect.
