8/3 is a big day for Cricket

From what I've read, the plan for the Android is going to be $55/month.

There is always going to be something better than what you get. I bought an HDTV about six months ago, and it was outdated when I got it. I got LCD, instead of LED. Now, there is 3D LCD HDTV's out there! The same with these phones. This Android phone is already outdated. I mean, it doesn't even record in HD! Now, if you're looking for a top of the line phone, you're most likely going to need to get a contract, or pay $500 for one. If you don't need the top of the line, and just want something nice, and better than phones like the Samsung Caliber (MetroPCS) then this phone would be for you.

I didn't read your post before replying..

Anyway, I agree that T-Mobile would be much more expensive. It isn't worth it in my opinion. The only other carrier that I see as being worth the money at this point is Sprint's Employee plan. I think it's either $59.99 or $69.99/month for basically unlimited everything (unlimited mobile calling..). But, I would only get that if I had to have one of the four major carriers. Otherwise I'd stick with regional or MVNO.

Sprint is the only carrier that I know of that has 4G (WiMax) right now. We're talking about MetroPCS' 4G, which, as far as I know, has only been used in testing. How do we know if the coverage is spotty?

Yes i have a blackberry storm flashed to cricket, and yes ttmmsw all work, but most 3rd party applications that need to access the internet will not, incl. RIM applications. i have already tried to, add the blackberry plan to my account, talked to 3 reps. and all of the would not, they stated that they could not add the blackberry plan to a flashed phone.

Yea theres meetings this week but I dont think they are going to say the official date because they just said, WITHIN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS NO EXACT DATE YET. Avenue: If you dont get it ASAP your going to have to wait a very loooooooooooooooooooooooong time to get it, by that time that new samsung touch screen might be out.

well i was thinking sprint and metro's 4g coverage would be somewhat similar in the areas that they are commonly available in. in my area its spoty, according to personal experience. maybe i shouldn't have generalized my statement!

I've heard biiiiiig changes ARE supposly comming in August. Please let it be flat rate plans, been thinking to switch to Boost and picking up that i1.

Damn that sucks. I was hoping to be able to get full function for my storm. Is there a possibility of a work around? I mean why won't the BB plan worked on a flashed BB?

I don't talk a whole lot so im on the $59 500minute voice/unlimited sms/unlimited data plan.

Its one of the even more plus plans and so my rate is $20 cheaper than the contracted plans. The cool thing is that for any phone, they let you pay for it in 19 payments interest free. The cost per month for most of the phones enRAB up being something like 20 to 25 bucks, essentially making it as expensive as contracted plans. The good thing is once my phone is paid for, i return to $59.

I completely understand the rolling cycle of how fast electronics become out of date, my point is that at least with t-mobile, new phones come out fairly often in comparison to cricket (think of the time between the evoke and the zio/curve).

Again, my fear is not that the phone is outdated now but more so when will new phones come along?

Also, like I also said...the Zio should being a data plan that would essentially be friendlier to something like the droid, etc. making it easier to be with cricket and to have newer phones as well.

I dunno...$55 flat is around what I was paying with boost CDMA, its the lack of android which made me goto t-mobile. I guess i'll see how the Zio does in the hanRAB of real end users and see what they say.

I'll confirm this. Here's what I've heard so far...

1) New rates are being released with taxes included.

2) BOTH the BB and Zio are coming out.

Rumor still that reconnects are going away which with new comp plan is a kinda a big deal. Activation fees may be going away as well.
