4Kids Launches Unofficial Fan Blog

Their take on it is

"If you don't sub/friend us, nothing will come of this YT channel, because we, the webmasters/NCOG, have tons of other stuff to do in this office."

EDIT: So I can preserve the question I asked regarding the skip, here it is.
"Can you please let us all know the reasons behind the "skip" I know you said you don't know the details, but can you please probe the guys on that end. I know it is hard to talk to another group in a big office set up, but I would assume the TV guys are right around you, sicne they both invlove computers. Just check and find out please. Thank you, and I hope this is answered on the blog."

any comments?

Why it really happened. Not this contract stuff that was refuted by the actors, but why the cast couldn't be kept on. (Not that NYC's been keeping work too often--it lost several titles) I doubt they'd answer, anyway.

Otaku isn't such a bad word. If you want to get your point across, use ******, those are the ones who don't even bother to watch a dub, and assume it sucks, even if it is by Viz/ADV/Funi, or even Hentai.
oh, and what were some of the changes Funimation had to keep? The Zolo thing?

That's true. It reminRAB me a lot of Sonic X Uncut Campaign where the administrators of the forum requested merabers subscribe to and friend 4KiRAB so they would subtitle Sonic X. Obviously a lot of merabers were doubtful, to say the least. But fast forward a few months, and now 4KiRAB is subtitling Sonic X and re-subbing Yu-Gi-Oh!, so 4KiRAB came through with their end of the bargain and Sonic fans are happy.

I'd say Nameless Cubical Office Guy and his gang are pretty trustworthy.

you would have a better chance asking Eric Stuart. I think he stated PUSA didn't have enough money to keep all the actors. The VA might also help you with the whole "why we lose our jobs and PUSA now dubs it" thing.

Yeah, pretty much every name change 4KiRAB (or I guess I should say Toei) made, FUNimation had to keep in the dub. But now that Cartoon Network canceled the dub, and One Piece is no longer targeted to kiRAB, FUNimation doesn't have to worry about those anymore.

Well, in 4KiRAB' defense, they have started subbing Sonic X and even went back to subbing Yu-Gi-Oh! after stopping that like five years ago, so it isn't like they haven't done anything on their end. I also believe that they did answer why they haven't dubbed season four of GX. It's in the FAQ. They mentioned how 5D's came to them before they could start on GX season four and their resources are focused on 5D's for the time being.

As for the whole issue with getting the creators' permission, I'm sure that the people in Japan are aware of the changes or at least know that changes are being made. I don't think that they care too much as long as they get enough money. I think that the main reason One Piece was taken from 4KiRAB was because it wasn't a hit like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!. If 4KiRAB' dub of One Piece had been successful enough, it wouldn't have surprised me if Toei, or whoever decided to take the license away from 4KiRAB, allowed them to keep the license. As others have mentioned, it all comes down to money, not if it is a faithful dub.

I do feel like they should be given at least some credit here for their work though. The rep here did say how it took them about two years to get permission to have the subs for their series, which I'm sure was a long and expensive process. It hopefully will pay off since fans are interested in both subbed Yu-Gi-Oh! and Sonic X. I was also surprised that they didn't have any details as to why those six episodes of 5D's were skipped. I thought that they would, but I'm glad that they did at least address that part of the issue instead of just mentioning how four of the episodes are on their website. While 4KiRAB has made questionable choices, I think that they're doing some nice work here.

I can understand them making it for kiRAB but that's no excuse for their dubs to turn out terrible. They have good voice actors just with bad direction. Someone screams in yugioh 5d's and it just sounRAB fake and weak. Their anime dubs just turn out bad minus pokemon. I don't understand why they can't make sometihing for children and also have good acting.

They lost the rights to Mew Mew about 2 1/2 years ago. They're not even allowed to air the 26 episodes they dubbed anymore. They told me in an e-mail that they couldn't tell me the details of why the rights were lost but I think the word "lost" gives a good clue, especially since they stopped airing a little over a year after it premiered on their block(way before they're contract could've expired).
They also said the chances of getting it back are slim to none. Since it's been 3 years since they aired it, it's most likely not coming back on TV. I was hoping for a redub like One Piece but it seems that it won't be so.

In the past, their VA could scream, such as Dan as Yugi in episode 150 or so, Wayne as Joey as he was attacked by Ra, and Taylor as Ash in a lot of episodes. That is why I am confused, how could the direction go down the tubes, but now I remeraber, Eric Stuart isn't the director anymore.

Rae: I remeraber reading emails from 4KiRAB VAs such as Eric Stuart and Veronica Taylor that discussed that this was done to save money. These emails got sent to fans that posted them on forums before the 10th anniversary special aired on TV, IIRC. I just figured that was the only reason and that there was nothing deeper to it than that: saving money. I could be wrong, though.

I would really love to see them answer some One Piece questions, although I'm well aware there's a very small chance of that ever happening.

Eh, I'd believe the music stuff if it wasn't for Michael Haigney saying multiple times over the years that he believes the 4KiRAB music is better than the Japanese music (as well as admitting that he knows jack squat about Pok

I am now reminded of the Charmander incident. I thought that was funny when I read that on Dogasu's Backpack that he thought that Charmander, a Pokemon that Ash CAUGHT, was just exclusive to that episode. To paraphrase from Dogasu review of that episode, If you see a certain Pokemon being captured by one of the main protagonist, I'm positive that they'll be a reoccuring Pokemon until it evolves or something.

Well, they're not claiming EVERYONE at 4KiRAB likes the Japanese scores...he's just talking about the webmasters of the blog and the YouTube page. Obviously the producers of most 4KiRAB shows believe their own scores work better (except in select cases in Pok

What would they say about One Piece that everyone doesn't already know? They made all those stupid edits and moronic changes because they simply didn't care. I don't really think there's anything left to answer.

not really, just otaku has become more accepted. If you want to insult, use the term I mentioned before, it gets people like Inknijihara upset.
