4Kids Launches Unofficial Fan Blog

Ignoring fans and treating voice actors like crap has caught up with them somewhat, IMHO, not to mention other misguided business decisions. It's all part of the stew.

I also recall when the VA switch happened, 4KiRAB said absolutely nothing about it publicly. Wonder if they'll say anything now, since they're suddenly feeling gabby.

The reality of the situation is.. they don't have to treat main anime fans really good. Since 4kiRAB and all it's acquisitions are for kiRAB. Mainstream > Anime Fans. and that's a fact.

Yeah, I have to admit most of it was pretty redundant, but I did learn a few things, like
4KiRAB wants to release the original version of every Japanese show they have (which isn't all that many anymore, so I guess it's doable)4KiRAB has multiple offices on multiple floors (well, I guess that was kind of obvious anyway)They're working on getting out the kinks in their video player (good news, since it's very buggy)4KiRAB will respond to any question as long as it's respectful and doesn't have cursingAnd yeah, that's about it. I'm gonna try and think of some worthwhile questions though. There are a lot of good ideas in this very thread that would be interesting to bring up, actually...

Hmm...that is interesting. But doesn't coding DVRAB into different regions minimize re-importation a good deal as well?

Not really, their not asking anyone to pay a fee in order to watch their subs. And even if the released uncut DVD's down the road (which I doubt) the profit wouldn't be big enough to get them out of their financial troubles.

4KiRAB are pathological liars. Nobody in Japan told them to cut 36 episodes out of One Piece, give the characters awful voices, change whole story arcs, etc. They did that because they wanted the show to be more like what they thought it should be. No other reason. I can't believe anyone would think otherwise.

As for the Pretty Cure dub goes, yes Toei did make those changes. But that's a different case because Toei itself was the one producing the dub. There was no middle-man.

I've always wondered about this particular form of censorship, regarding editing the Yu-Gi-Oh carRAB in the English dub of the anime. I used to think it was just because 4kiRAB has a habit of erasing most or all text. This explanation involving co-seling regulations and issues actually makes sense.

What 4kiRAB said is that the Japanese gave them permission to make changed, not what changes they could make. of course they were not given permission to cut thirty six episodes, or any or the redicoulus changes they did make.

It's less lying and more a loop hole, they were allowed to make "Some" changes, probably minor changes and took it to the extreme. They were probably given permission to edit for content like most Tv dubs and well in a sense that is the japanese allowing them to make the changes. It's taking advantage of the loop holes noy out and out lying.

I'm sure they had to pay for the subs, not to mention the rights they do have in areas.

And with aRAB, we're still helping them pocket if only pennies.
