Filmation did this with every episode of every animated series they produced. They did everything in house and had to do what they could to keep the budget low.

Cat Burglars and Pirates sound intriguing (so long as there's enough in the latter to distinguish it from a certain series), but the Christmas one? Not so much. There's too much Santa parody material out there already, and Aardman will have to do something truly special for this to stand out.
