*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia 6650 (RM-324 6650d-1bH) NAM 3G 850/1900

I'd heard that Radio Shack was considering it, in which case you'll be able to get it without hassling with the rebates. I'm waiting to hear back from a contact. I have the Grandfathered MEdiaWorks package, so I'm rather skeptical of allowing just anyone to access my account. Last time some little nutbag changed the feature 3 times.

PIIIIIIIIIIIIIICS!!!!

also, you need to do 2 things:

Try Garmin XT, and.....did i mention pictures? screenshots? something!!

btw, if youre talking about Nokia "switch" its awesome. works VERY well.

Yes it works fine... did you go to get.skyfire.com from your phone's browser?... You have to download the new beta build 0.85.something or other... I tried the old build 0.6(something) and it didn't work... you need the new beta... they've fixed it so that most S60 phones will work now... it's awesome!... I just wish that it had some of the shortcuts that Opera Mini has... I wish they could meld the two browsers together... but yeah anyways, Skyfire works great all things considered and it even plays audio too... Finally, porn on a mobile phone!... yippee!... haha that's a joke (or is it?)...

That's always a possibility.

My wife and I have a pair (one new & one refurb) and they perform flawlessly.

Good thing, as we gave up our land line 5 years ago, so we need reliable cell phones.

Also can you do a special to see if it can be 'hacked', the symbian-freak style way ;) .

btw, you guys are like addicts! I couldn't keep up with this thread on my mobile or work laptop every 30minutes reload!

I'm hoping some of the silver one's can make it cross the border to Canada - GTA possibly, please?! I think I'm going to downgrade my E71 till I can get the N85 NAM.

That's an accurate statement I'd say, that's where I'm coming from and just starting to dip my toe into smart phone territory so-to-speak.

Guys, the Mauikek theme by Flahorn looks amazing on the 6650 with the teal keypad lights. Check it out..

Was wondering why everyone loved this phone. The keypad is yuck but the metal is beautiful. Reminds me of the 6290 with better batter and NAM 3G and 2.5mm jack. With this battery it bothers me that Nokia still will not make a classic flip S60 phone with WiFi.

6260 Swivel-Flip
N75
6290 - I almost bought this!
Now the 6650 which has the battery life for users to fully enjoy WLAN.

(all above have S60) The 6650 is good - camera is bland though.

I'd swear Nokia's USA - North/South American market share would triple in 6mths if they'd make an S60 with 3GNAM & WLAN in a classic Flip phone! Even with a 2MP camera with 1 LED flash. Quadrouple if it had VGA recording at 30fps without the ugly N93 design and bazooka Lens setup.

Rick, did you get the phone at radio shack like you were planning?

the 6620 and the 6682 were preety good phones. why are they doing this?

There was a post fairly recently on this thread about using X-plore to get into the bowels of the Z drive and install the preinstalled items onto a memory card which you then re-format. It helps to have a spare or new card, so you don't delete everything you've loaded onto it. The programs for the AT&T malls don't seem to be in there, but the AT&T Nav program is there, masquerading. I opened the non-folder file to see what program the file is for. Once I installed it onto the card, removed the card, and went back in, it let me delete the ATT nav icon. Lots of people travel enough to find it useful; I don't so Google maps is enough for me - not worth $9.99 a month. I also deleted the Weather Channel, since the program is a demo, and you can get the same info for free. Not to mention the games, etc.

I would like to know if anyone figures out where the mall files are located. I found the icons for them but didn't feel confident about the consequences of deleting those.

i installed gizmo on my 6650 (i downloaded the one for the N75) and it was able start up and even register a new account for me (i received the email about a new account being set up). however i am unable to get past a screen that says i need to give it permission to access the network.

whenever i start gizmo it asks if it can be permitted to use the network and i say yes-- however after a couple minutes i get an error saying "This program can't do anything until you grant it permission to send and receive data over the network". At this point all i can do is exit gizmo.

i'm thinking that it has something to do with the AT&T firmware, but wonder if there is some tool that would let me tweak the settings to allow this??

Fm tuner is nice, but i never use it on any of my phones because they always require the headset to be plugged in for the antenna.

The bugginess can be easy explained. Nokia's FP2. hopefully it will get fixed one day.

20MB free ram? what the hell man. ok fine, no multitasking. or very little anyway.

but can this things even run Garmin XT? without running outta memory?

Can someone try tethering and see how it works?

I've been waiting on this phone too, im not expecting a whole lot since its cheap, but wtf.

oh PS, the 300KB limit is a carrier emposed thing. very common.

one more thing, can you uninstall any of the crap that came on it? telenav etc.

and we see them signing a virus!!!

Speaking of which: (this may be a dumb question) Under what circumstances should one install virus protection on cell phones? If you don't use email or IM, do you need it?

Answering a few Q's in reverse oredr ...

Q: EPVQ30 : so basically the google maps works without the need to sub up for the at&t navigator?
A: Yes.

Q: wlo8 : So, no Tab Top, right?
A: Yes, indeed - good 'ole Idle Screen like the 'original' N75 before the firmware update!

Q: RYOBI : Are we talking the speakerphone or the earpiece?
A: Both are slightly softer, the external speaker is soft enough that I had to pick a louder ringtone!

Q: RYOBI : 2 MP camera?
A: Yeah - definitely not more. Disappointing lack of focusing ability (fixed focus)
