my wife bent her brake lever up on her Rebel 250 and I was able to bend it back into shape with a rubber mallet (while it was removed). Just be careful if you try this, that you don't bend it so far that it dosn't fully disengage the clutch when you pull the clutch lever.

Yeah I am sure the weather in california is less probable to fogging then the northeast, when the lens fogged it was always colder and humid. If the lens wasnt vented open a bit , I would start to breathe heavy and the lens would glaze over like clockwork.
