Actually I blame the director for that one. I listened to the DVD commentary, and it confirmed that he had no original ideas, no sense for what PK Dick was about and was generally rubbish. His only skill is setting up action scenes.

I think it will be one of those films that you'll have to watch at least 2/3 times to fully understand. I'm seeing it on Friday and looking forward to it. Just hope there aren't any neRAB/chavs in my screening expecting something similar to The Dark Knight. Can you imagine the uproar?! :D
