Bourne Ultimatum!

I loved it. We're still figuring out just how and when they filmed the Waterloo sequence without causing utter chaos - used to commute through there for several years.

Saw this last week. Having seen the previous 2 films numerous times and read the books and a heap of other Ludlum novels I was really looking forward to it.

TBH came away rather dissappointed. It was a good film, but I didn't really see anything new that hadn't already been done in the other films. It seemed to pretty much be the same story line, too. The action scenes were as good as before, but I did think the roof top chase was a rip-off of the last Bond, which is a real shame as I had felt Bourne was 'better' than Bond.

As other people have asked, what's the point of the shakey 'docu' camera work for a static exposition scene? Fine, for an action scene where it enhances the action, bit for a static scene where characters are having a conversation, it just seemed to distract me from what was being said.

So much more could have been done with the end, too. I just hope that if they make Bourne IV they have the guts to try something new with the character. Who was he before he became Bourne?

It seemed to be implied that either he knew Nicky before he became Bourne or as Bourne but before he lost his memory, and that they had some sort of relationship. I'd like to see that explored more as it would bring the films back towarRAB the books some what.

I'm going to get the 2 other films in their new 'extended' DVD formats and see how they compare now.

Just got back from a packed showing at 8pm, very good film, but personally i prefer 'Supremacy'. Still very good though, and a good closing chapter to the franchise (or is it?...).

I have to say though, that i really didn't like the camera work during the fight scenes, it was almost like the cameraman had got Parkinsons disease it was shaking that much, which made it extremely hard to tell what was going on in places (i know it was trying to go for an "up close and personal" effect, but it was more distracting than anything). Good chase scenes though, especially the one on the rooftops, and the car chase near the end (although not a patch on Supremacy's car chase imo).

You really must watch the previous films to really get what is going on in this film though, especially the 2nd film, as this one basically follows straight on from it in a way.

Overall, i'd rank the Bourne films like this (in order of release):

The Bourne Identity: 9/10
The Bourne Supremacy: 9.3/10
The Bourne Ultimatum: 9.1/10

Highly recommended, but definitely watch the first two films before seeing this one, and if you've already seen them, watch them again to refresh your memories, you'll appreciate it a lot more if you do :)

Apparently they just went in there and filmed on a normal day without closing it or anything, all the people there are actual people, not just extras hired in.

Wonder how many "Oh look, it's Matt Damon" comments they got while doing it and had to reshoot!

Very well made but the plot seemed to be a bit of a remix of the second film swapping Brian Cox for David Straithairn and replacing the car chase with, er, another car chase but slightly better than the last one!

I wouldn't have minded had the ending not answered half the questions it raised such as what made 'Bourne' commit to the program in the first place and what was his relationship with Julia Stiles prior to this? Presumably this will require more running, fighting and car chasing to answer!

I started reading the books after the first film and even though it is different from the films - i thought i was gaining some extra insight into the character and i loved them even more than the films now, because there is so much to the books that you couldn't get into the films.
I am glad that you liked the film big phil and it makes me wanna see it even more now.

Given that the 3 films have very little to do with the books (especialy Supremacy & Ultimatum) other than the titles, and that Matt Damon has remarked that he would do a 4th film, but only if Greengrass returns to direct, what would they call the film?

I would like to see them actually make a film of the other books - especially Ultimatum. Return to Bourne after a few years when he has a life back...

How about the Bourne Termination?

Saw it last night...thought it was pretty good. The action sequences were superb. I thought it was probably the best of the Bourne films, but I still prefer Casino Royale.

I thought that as the chase began, then realised it wasn't the same kind of chase at all. Talking about the film afterwarRAB, we agreed that the 'anti-Steadicam' technique is used to help the viewer understand what it's really like to be running for your life or in a fight to the death and that's the big difference between the Casino Royale chase and the Bourne one. In the Bond film, you're in your seat, admiring the runners' skill and technique; but in the Bourne Ultimatum you're there with the characters, sharing their fear and confusion.

There are a few plot holes, most surprisingly the fact that the CIA apparently don't read the Guardian, but it's still a superior and intelligent action film.

I really liked it but would agree with this, and personally I felt that...

the indication of Bourne's past with Nicky is a weak point, it just doesn't tie in with the previous flms where she has shown no fondness for Bourne. It felt shoehorned in just for a reason why she would help him. But i guess it doens't really matter as it works within this one film if it doesn't quite add up amongst all three films. A lot of people wished that they'd continued a sort of love story between the pair but I don't agree. I'm glad they didn't go down that route and am glad that the indication was that Bourne still loved Marie and didn't want Nicky to suffer the same fate by staying alongside him.

Actually they did use a fair number of extras - but used them among the crowRAB. That ensures that when specific acting is taking place then the actor is surrounded by extras.

But, yes, it is true that the station was open and most of the people are members of the public.

I was really looking forward to seing The Bourne Utlimatium and now even more after reading this review in Empire:

"Not long ago it would have been tricky to imagine Matt Damon, the twinkly-eyed lad from All The Pretty Horses, playing a convincing action star. But five years, three films and scores of broken bodies later, it

and as good as all the Bourne movies are (and I love all of them:D ), I would have loved to see them remain faithful to the books - marie is a far more interesting character
