Satellite Piracy in Canada and U.S. in 2010

By that logic Echostar never had a piracy problem, it had a faulty card problem. How you steal signals you haven't paid for is irrelevant. It's theft.

BEV: Signal Outages - Fri. 13th. Sun. 15th - Due to Storms in Toronto

Its the biggest lightning show I've seen in years in Toronto. I wonder if something around Bev got hit since it appears to have been very close.

    ExpressVu - Positive Customer Feedback

Thanks Lucky. Nice to hear some positive words and I hope Santa is good to you, however, judging by your signature, maybe a new tv first!

Bell TV to have a 3D PPV channel by year's end

Mike, I agree. From Bell's perspective its just a re-purposed PPV channel. I wonder if it will require extra bandwidth so it could actually be two re-purposed PPV channels.

    CBC-HD Missing on Bev

If this was an isolated incident then I can see your point but it wasn't. Bell's imperious attitude towards its customers daily and this just is a flashpoint. As an ex-Bell ExpressVu user, I was subject to constant abuse from the CSR's when I tried to get issues resolved with the crappy...

Satellite Piracy in Canada and U.S. in 2010

+1 Francois. For many years (about 97 to 2003), all the pirating was done with Directv because it was comprised. Directv fixed the problem and, to my knowledge, has pretty much rid itself of the piracy problem. Pirates only turned to Dish and Bell when Directv got serious. Why Echostar can't...

Technical question: Is BEV 1080i or 720p?

editor / Falcon, I posed the question directly to the Bell ExpressVu product manager responsible for the 9200 during a Bell press event last October (see my post above) and another member posted an email came from a Bell CSR today stating that it was native. So that leaves two options...

Split: Unfortunate ExpressVu Customer of the Week - My Little Rant

I have pulled this from the Rant thread because it seems to be emblematic of Bell ExpressVu customer service. It seems the only solution is to contact the executive office and I encourage all disenchanted Bell Customers to do the same.

    Bell Express Vu 3100 Rx.

Certainly the 3100 is Standard Definition (SD) receiver so you will need to get an HD receiver (9242 or 6141) if you want to watch Bell TV in HD.

To HDTV or not to HDTV?

I thought pretty much every retailer no offers a free HD promo deal with an HDTV purchase? I would speak to your retailer. If that is not available then I think you are out of luck. Sorry but I have to ask, why buy and expensive 46" television and then balk at $10 a month?

BEV Carried a Superbowl Channel with US Ads - No Kind Words?

I live in Toronto and PVR'd the OTA broadcast from Buffalo so Bell was still helpful for me. I got the PVR capability and the U.S. broadcast although in a slightly different fashion. see my thread on this!

What will Bell do with the new Nimiq 5 satellite?

I don't think so. Business is not a charity. Canadian company's will be out of business if they sell below cost to a Canadian company when they could make a profit by selling elsewhere. Best thing a Canadian company can do is make lots of money so they can hire more Canadians, pay more...

Unable to record to VCR/DVD Recorder from ExpressVu 3500 STBs

dbman, you keep adding stuff which makes this very confusing. You said your VCR can't record anymore but now you've added in the fact that you can't record to a new DVD recorder. The question is "can you still record to your VCR and if not, when did the problem begin?" If Bell suddenly...
