Your Music "Range"

Why would I subject myself to listen to all his albums? I've heard the three ones that are generally regarded as his best and I thought they sucked. Why would I listen to the ones regarded at his worst if I'm just going to think they suck too? I've heard all the hits and I've heard enough music to judge whether or not he sucks.

All the stuff I've said that hasn't been an opinion, example: I've seen nothing on WHICH instruments he plays, could've easily been corrected by you. But you just say "he plays instruments" you don't even state WHICH, that's called not backing it up. That's exactly how you argue, you basically spend a paragraph whining about how I insulted your beloved pedophile and saying no no no because you can't take the fact he isn't nearly the important artist you make him out to be.

At the moment pretty limited. Although I've had a slight taste of quite a bit, What I listen to thoroughly is usually only ranging from indie thru to metal which is kinda plain and a piss poor effort on my part

If you think those lyrics are good you really do need to get your head checked and if Michael Jackson doesn't play any instruments how could he compose it?

Your Music "Range"

I can't find anything further apart than anything else, in all honesty. Its easier to post a big list of artists than to try and find the two most different. Metal and classical are the most different you'll find, but theres a surprising amount of overlap which makes it difficult to be truly outside the box.

If Michael Jackson is so timeless why has he kept changing his sound to fit the modern times? Oh that's right because if he released Thriller today it wouldn't go anywhere why? It doesn't fit today's music market, it fits the 80s music market and he's released only three albums which are considered classics, the rest he's released are just crap. I don't even like Bad, Off the Wall or Thriller, in fact I think they're trash. If an artist isn't very consistent it takes away from his talent and legend status. Besides, I think it's fairly obvious Quincy Jones is the real talent there. You admitted Michael Jackson released alot of crap, funny how as soon as you take Quincy out of the picture all thats left is the crap.

So? Paris Hilton covered a variety of genres on her album i'm not going to considered her talented for it. Pop artists commonly throw out a few songs in each genre, it doesn't make them good or versatile.

Like what? Make some influential music videos? Give me a break music videos suck, very few artists treat it as an artform most just use it as an excuse to show as much female skin as possible.

We've gotten into this debate before, the only credible artist he influenced was Wu Tang Clan and he only influenced one of their merabers so that isn't exactly vital is it? If you took Michael Jackson out of the picture I doubt RZA would sound very different. Other notable artists you named consisted of Madonna, Janet Jackson, Boys II Men, Celine Dion, Coldplay and Evanescene. A great and credible gang right?

Wrong, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye are actually important to the music world. If Thriller, Bad and Off the Wall never came out we probably wouldn't be dealing with the Madonnas and Tiraberlakes of the world. Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye have proven to be consistent without the help of producers. Here, My Dear is probably my second favorite Marvin Gaye album guess when that came out? Twenty years after What's Going On. Michael Jackson isn't going to release anything credible unless Quincy Jones decide to starting writing for him again.

but it's not catchy. I mean if there's one thing keeping MJ up it should be that the song is catchy.

and you can enjoy bad music with deaf people if you're punching them in the ears.

well I have Smashing Pumpkins next to Sinatra, Ladytron above Interpol, Jimi Hendrix in the same binder as The Sex Pistols and Jurassic 5
and T.I. with Miles Davis, Bob Dylan and Gotan Project

Mostly emo & screamo, some grindcore. Most the hardcore I listen to is on the emo side, but I sometimes listen to more straight up hardcore punk.

And alongside that, some experimental, noise, post-rock and the ocasional bit of acoustic/folk.

I don't think it's that they can't handle any criticism...it's that the criticism of his musical affect on most artists is always biased based on his personal life....

The Jackson Five and MJ with his solo albums have influenced so many people but his ****ty personal life almost outshadows all the work he has done over the decades. Every R&B artist takes things that MJ has done.

are we still discussing Michael Jackson? well then can somebody explain to me why people think Billy Jean is considered a good song?

(I do like Thriller by the way)

Prince>Michael Jackson. Ever seen the Sign O The Times concert? jeez that man can dance, sing, play badas s guitar and play the drums. Grabbing your crotch and saying he he does'nt come close. Jackson's music was successful and catchy there is no denying that, but it is just disco music at the end of the day.
