Many peoples' precious avatars on this forum are well-known, but there are many who found pictures from some more obscure/less well-known animes.
I think it would be kinda neat to see what everyone's avatar is (and I don't want this to be a list thread, so please explain your avatar in some way, i.e. why you chose it, if it means anything special to you, what the anime it comes from is about, etc).

I chose Lain from Serial Experiments Lain because its such a neat show.
I have yet to see the whole thing (I've only watched the first disc, and thats like 4 or 5 episodes), but I plan on finishing it at some point. it is very odd and confusing, but just coherent enough to make me want to watch more. also, I am very interesting in psychological stuff, which, as far as I can tell, Lain has a lot to do with.

I usually tend to use an avatar that reflects the current show that I am really interested in. At the moment it is Fullmetal Alchemist. So my avatar is Roy Mustang the Flame Alchemist.
He is very calculating and a very skilled alchemist and provides some of the funniest comic relief for the show.

Mt avvie is the Hitoshoura/Demi-fiend from Shim Megami Tensei 3. He is silent, but you can tell he is always thinking, scheming, just like me. Depending on the path you take, he can join anything from the devil to some archangels. He really does not have anything to do with my screen name. You see, it is a really old mythology thing that I do not feel like explaining at the moment. My old avatar of the child was... I will put this in spoilers just to be safe

I'm curious. Do you know for sure that they are bass guitars? Secondly, on a different "note", how do you know that the names
rickenbacker and EB-0 1961
are what their guitars are called? is it mentioned or did you recognize the design or something?

Necros is right, except that Naota's guitar (the one he uses that was pulled out of his head), was a Gibson Flying V electric guitar, not a Rickenbacher bass. Yep, all the guitars in FLCL are accurate renditions of real guitars.

My avatar picture is Shiva from the Final Fantasy series.

I chose that picture because:

1. I come from Switzerland; people usually associate Switzerland with snowy mountains and since Shiva is considered to be the “goddess of ice,” I thought it would make a great avatar picture for me.

2. I kind of look like Shiva :P (well, I do have blue eyes though)

3. Also, FFVIII was the first turned-based RPG that I ever played; and I always liked summoning the Shiva GF.

Problem with Mugen is that he's quite frankly, completely insane.

My avatar comes from the well known fantasy series "The Twelve Kingdoms" from Studio Pierrot. Great series, my avatar's actually nothing but shameless advertising.

Read the Wikipedia entry. Let's just say he's... well-endowed ^.^'. And I guess because he's Jewish :P? Most of the Jewish people I've met or seen are pretty funny ;).

I still remember the last time we had one of these threads, well over a year ago to be sure... the last big one at least.

I like to change mine fairly often and just did so the other day. My last avatar:

was Juna in her transformed state as the Avatar of Time in Earth Girl Arjuna. A rather good, oft underated series. One that also has some wonderful art.

My current avatar is Stoner from Eureka Seven. I chose him because, well he so far seems to be just a pretty cool guy in general, and I thought I'd try to shy away from a seriously main character for once. Although I have a few more from EU that I will probably be going through soon.

Mine is Seiji from Midori Days. The first time my friend told me about that show, all I could think was: Oh man I am going to hate this. However, when I finally watched it, the anime was well put together and had a decent amount of drama. I gave back the box set to my friend and suddenly a month later I had the desire to re-watch it. Unexpectedly it has made it to my top 10 anime, and I happened to have a good screenshot when I was looking for things to make my avatar from.

And there you have it.

I know he co-starred in a rap video in the 80's, did some "legit" B-movies . . . has he ever done VAing for Japanese anime? Dub companies have been hiring porn actors for the women for years, why not the men?

hm... to think about it, i think avatars are misleading...

like i tend to jump to conclusion that people with avatars with girl are girls, and ones with boys, boys.

It's sometimes difficult for me to call someone a gender, because i don't really know.

how do people tell? i can only tell if someone else metion their gender...

My avitar is Orihime Innue from Bleach, a fairly popular but unliscensed series that's been completely awesome so far. The specific photo comes from volume three of the manga though. I chose her because she's quite the looker. :wink:

It's actually tiny miniskirts.

I chose my avatar because I couldn't find anything good that would fit with Hughes(FMA), Straight Cougar (s-CRY-ed), Zabuza (Naruto), or Greed (FMA) and since there was none of my 4 top favorite anime characters I figured I'd use my fifth favorite anime character.
And besides what's not to love about Don Patch?

I did however find one of Hughes that was almost small enough to fit.
Only 28 pixels too big, it was so close too. v_v
