My immediate impressions? Simpsons is a big show, but not number 1 in my eyes. She-Ra is definitely not 99 on the list. I mean, how did Aladdin get ranked higher? And who the heck is Jayce?

Discuss. Apologies if this is very old news to y'all.

It's odd that there's such a huge gap between the Simpsons and Family Guy, as I would have thought that they would have listed those much more closely together, seeing that they're quite similar. There's also some very obscure cartoons on there, even some I've never heard of, like She-Ea, Jem, Jayce, the Critic, etc. Also, no Home Movies.:crying:

Yep, seven years ago. Don't forget, everyone, Wizard is overrun with 20-or-30 somethings that grew up on Transformers and the like. It's also worth noting that when this was in production, Samurai Jack couldn't of aired more than the movie and Justice League was still waiting to be aired; had it came out when both had enough episodes to judge, they would be on the list, JL in the top 5, likely.

Personally, I'd switch Looney Tunes and The Simpsons positions on the list, as well as G.I. Joe and The Tex Avery Show and add Ed, Edd, n' Eddy and Rocko's Modern Life somewhere, but that's just me.

Remember, this was done in 2001, Family Guy was still pretty obscure at this point. I could see it go much higher on the list had this been done a few months after it hit [adult swim](it did get the #2 slot on their "Top 10 Cartoons on the Air" list done 4 years alter BTW), but for the time, many would of question if it's top 100, let alone top 10, material/

If you like The Simpons, then I'm sure you really would get a kick out of The Critic. Putting that up in the air.

Again, don't be offended, since this list was done before Home Movies hit [as], remaining as only a brief memory of UPN's short-lived animation line-up. Could make it now, though.

Uhh, why? I'm not sticking up for anime, I'm just curious as to why anime shouldn't be on a list of the greatest cartoons. BTW that would also put Invader Zim in question, although one could argue it was simply influenced by anime, but not actually anime.

Considering the name of the magazine, I'm surprised the Super Mario Bros. 3 cartoon wasn't voted Number 1. :p

In all seriousness though, I think it's kind of strange, barring the anime argument, to see theatrical cartoons (Fleischer Superman, Popeye) mixed in with TV cartoons (most of them), and in the case of Schoolhouse Rock, short vignettes aired between TV cartoons. They're really too different to be ranked identically and would be like a top 100 Live Action progams list with a Three Stooges short, Desperate Housewives, and The Matrix.

You know, that's not a bad list. It's missing a few shows like Invader Zim or King of the Hill and shows like Family Guy and South Park should be higher but overall, I like what Wizard magazine has done with the list.

Ha. What's ironic is that The Super Mario Bros. Super Show actually landed in their top 10 Worst Animated Series, which I'd give out the exact order of if I could find the magazine in my vaults. I'm sure MonkeyFunk can, though.

Any animation should be welcome, but the problem is finding one that actually should be on there. Is this a list of just favorites (which is subjective) or is it considering influence and impact? I'd say the former since a lot of the shows on there have had no influence or impact on the modern world.

Just watch it, it has a lot of anime effects.

As to when, I'm not sure, but I've heard people say it was anime or very much like anime at my school. Other than that, I've never heard it being called anime before. Honestly, Invader Zim being labeled as anime surprised me when I first heard it, too. And personally, I disagree with it being anime, but, again, it's does have some anime characteristics, and the IZ staff has acknowledged these likenesses on the dvd release.
