I'm not defending the current system. I just don't think it's fair to overhaul the entire thing for the minority that isn't covered. This forces everyone to pay more in taxes to support something that isn't an issue to many people. As far as your rebuttal regarding something about a trip to Aspen b/c a provider chooses not to cover a medical procedure; I haven't dealt with that situation, and I know what my medical plan copays are. You see, when you have a job, you can pick between a few plans. You pay for the one that suits you best and you know you can afford. So again, for myself, my friends and family...not one of them has an issue large enough to overhaul the ENTIRE medical system.
Sure, there are a lot of changes that should be done, but that needs to be done by cracking down on a lot of the health providers for their costs.
