Why would anyone be AGAINST national healthcare???

When the fuck did it become a right for everyone to have everything handed to them. You work to become something in life and this whole idea of taxing "the rich" to help those less fortunate is crazy. Biden and Obama said this is being patriotic. All you are doing is punishing those who have worked hard to make something of themselves in order to fund some shitty social programs.

Also, does anyone have a stat of how many americans have medical insurance? I saw a stat that said it was something in the mid 80% range. IF so, why should we spend all that money to overhaul a system just to cover the remaining 15% of the population.

so maybe u need to be more concerned with our food tampering rather then the health care situation...? Your reasonings are all over the place here buddy

Can someone just sign up for cutting edge treatments that might save them, or even prolong their lives?

Your saying an american can get absolutlely any treatment they require, as long as they pay in the future? There are no treatments only money can buy?

Wake up, chief.

its embarrassing that the greatest and most wealthy country in the world cant offer health care for its citizens. i actually agree with t8thgr8 health care should be a right... not just a privilege.

From the medical perspective(Im a surgeon) the concern at most large academic centers regarding nationalized health care is the loss of research drive. If you look at a lot of medical literature, the vast majority originates from the United States, with a significantly smaller percentage coming from the EU and then Japan. The belief is that all large academic centers fight over NIH grants by pursuing cutting edge research in medicine, whether this is really necessary or not, e.g. do we need better resolution CT scanners is questionable, nevertheless the research technology trickles to the rest of the world. So part of the concern over nationalized health care is a loss of research drive since there would a loss of competition among academic institutions. Personally I don't think nationalized health care is the solution, though I believe a baseline level of health care should be provided to all in the form of primary prevention, (vaccination for babies, etc) and then if anybody wants to pay for more, go for it...I think this is similar to the system used in Japan...

I don't know ANYONE that is happy with the amount of money the government is spending. And i think your argument is retarded, we shouldn't be arguing about shifting a ridiculous amount of money here or there, we shouldn't be spending it at all.

somedays i feel like a nut . what i said's true though, we dont have the option of going to the organic store here. no one gives enough of a shit regarding the food we eat. You can turn a blind eye to whats going on behind the scenes but I wont. And the shit they consider food in the fast food industry and the way they promote it is sick. Its why our country is sick. Its true we have free will but its too easy to manipulate people.

Hmmmmm Lets see--I have 7 cousins living in Canada. A few years ago my one cousin (who pays 50% of his income towards taxes) was diagnosed with some heart issues that required treatment in 6 months or he could die. The soonest he could get into a Canadian hospital for treatment was NINE MONTHS LATER--that means he could be dead. He paid out of pocket for treatment in the states. So tell me again how wonderful universal health care is.
